Why does everyone continuously pound on Chavis, his defenses over the years have produced. Lets not recall the times when all UT needed is a 3rd down and short to ice the game and UT woundn't get it and put the D out to dry time and time again.

Many loses are not Chavis's fault, many fall on poor offense execution.

Don't underestimate Denver like the media has been. If being a Vols' fan should teach you anything right now, it's that media has a crowd mentality in their thinking, and it is usually biased. Denver actually has some pieces in play and Shanahan was the NFL version of Fulmer, at least in his inability to change his stale ways.

I hear what you're saying, but a big part of why Shanahan is gone is not his coaching - it was his talent evaluation/drafting. They just don't have significant talent on defense and they made a serious downgrade at QB. I just don't see them being highly successful.

The problem was that they were trying to make a run a few years back and invested in aging defensive stars instead of building a core foundation of younger guys.

Defensively, when you smell blood you have to go for the kill. For the most part Chavis didn't do this. Instead of crushing teams when he had the chance, Chavis allowed many inferior opponents to hang around for an entire game when they shouldn't have been able to hang for a quarter. (Teams like, Air Force, Southern Miss, Kentucky, S. Carolina, Vandy, UCLA) I don't know about you, but I got sick of sweating out games against pitiful teams. You better be the first with the most. You can't let teams bring the game to you.

As a Denver fan, I am very pleased that he is seemingly doing well so far. His flexibility is gonna be very good for Denver.
