They author waits till the very end to add that UT's total salary for coaches is just 4th int he SEC. Sounds to me like their trying to condemn UT for throwing cash around and adding to the nation's economic woes. Pft...bs

Can we PLEASE get past this??

Our coaches make less as a group than LSU, Florida, and Alabama. I can't wait for Spring Practice.

I think it is great that we have a coach that will share the wealth for the cause of winning. At least his EGO will not be in the way.Buy the way, first time caller, long time listener.;)

It is a terribly written article because the entire beginning article talks about how astronomical assistants' salaries are and how terrible that is in this economic climate. Then they wait til almost the end to mention that Kiffin makes significantly less that Saban etc. and that the entire staff's salary is 4th or 5th in the SEC.

Did you scroll down and read what the gator fans were saying? I know fla. is likely to going to beat us this year, but I caint wait until 2 or 3 years down the road and we start making erbie cry! Garorzz will have a full time job, carrying erbie`s pacifier & diapers around!

I emailed the author and asked him why it's so bad for Kiffin to make 60% of the combined assistants' salaries, but nobody complains when Saban makes 167% of his assistants' salaries.

It's almost as if this article is taking a stance against the high salaried staff, pointing to things like how smaller schools can't keep up with this sort of salary structure. But come on, how fantastic did Nick Saban's salary look after the 2007 season? He turned it around in '08 and now everyone can find justification in the money spent.

Hopefully our model of doing business will turn the program around, too. Then perhaps we'll get credit for our "thrify economic sense" instead of crap like this.

I think we should pay our staff more, and make them the highest paid staff in the nation. I think Rickey Henderson said it best when he said: "If they want to pay me like Mike Gallego, I will play like Mike Gallego."

Lane K is spending whatever money it takes to win---UF and Bama will not be able to keep up, and their assistants will get angry when UF doesn't match the UT salary money.
