These two formerly yearly Big 8 / Big 12 opponents meet on the field as members of the Big 10 and PAC-12.
The importance of the series is a bit disputed: Colorado traditionally saw Nebraska as its biggest rival while Nebraska didn’t entirely reciprocate the idea, save for a period in the 1980s (the Cornhuskers generally felt Oklahoma to be their biggest rival...and seem to even have considered Missouri even a bit higher on the historical rival scale).
Once the SWC schools joined the Big 8 in 1996, though, this matchup became the regular Thanksgiving Day game for the conference.
This matchup used to be played for the “Bison’s Head Trophy” from 1951 until 1961, when it was lost.
With 5:39 left Nebraska just scored a TD to break the tie and go up 31-24.
