Ozzy's voice was distinct. Which in rock and roll is more important than virtuosity. Nobody else sounds like him! It's like I said before, he was 1 of 1.Sorry to distract
What's crazy to me about Ozzy's voice is I actually don't think it's...good per se, like I don't find it attractive yet anytime you listen to him it is mesmerizing. He entrances you with his voice. I always think about Paranoid and it's like if a computer somehow hacked a voice box and didn't know what a great voice sounded like but knew how to hypnotize you.
I 100% agree.Sorry to distract

Another example of this, imo, is Joe Strummer of the Clash. By no means is his voice “good”, but yet he’s still one of the best vocalists there ever was, just due to how real his voice sounded. The rawness is what made The Clash who they were.Sorry to distract

I completely agree. His voice has a mechanical vibe to it if that makes any sense. It's really hard to explain. It's mesmerizing and completely unique. You won't anyone else with a similar voice.Sorry to distract

I would add Layne Staley to that too.I 100% agree.
I put Ozzy in a category with guys like Geddy Lee or Eddie Vedder. They all have weird voices, and honestly I don't think they have "good" voices. They definitely aren't Robert Plant or Freddie Mercury. I think their voices and vocal style worked only with the band they were in, but man did it work.
The episode were he went to the dentist was my favorite episode. He damn near used up all the laughing gasHa I remember watching that show when it aired thinking there's no way this guy makes it more than a few more years. Stammering and stumbling around. I would have guessed he was MUCH older than he was during that.
