Great coach. Bad luck in SBs as a coach. I guess he and Marv Levy were only 2 HCs to lose 4. Shame to lose him an Madden I'm same week.

Grew up a huge Broncos fan because of Elway after watching “The drive” when I was 7. My birthday always fell around or on the Super Bowl and my mother who we lost in March bought some celebratory Broncos napkins that we didn’t get to use until 10 years after she first bought them when the Broncos finally broke through in 98. A good omen for a great year of my golden age of sports .

I was a big Broncos fan from ‘77 up until the Titans came to Nashville and Elway retired.
Looking back it’s amazing what the Broncos were able to accomplish with the personnel they had.

I was born in 78 so I only Know about the 77 SB from antiquity but my story is pretty much the same . I still pull for them unless it’s the Titans . I went to a preseason game@ Vandy in 98 & at that point I was still pulling for the Broncos . It was like 103 degrees at kickoff . Elway played maybe 2 possessions and I went back to the house !

I was there as well … it was the only time I got to see Elway in person. He retired after the season and that’s when I switched over to the Titans

I remember, as a kid, watching him toss a halfback pass TD to Lance Rentzel in the Ice Bowl. Thought for sure the Cowboys would then win. I was pretty mad when Starr and that nobody running back Chuck Mercein marched down for the famous winning TD.
