Russillo said he asked for an interview of Bill Russell when he was at ESPN and BR's agent declined because once upon a time, ESPN asked him to sit down for an interview for Sportscentury. He didn't like where they ranked him, so he told them he's sat down with them before and they should have enough footage. They dropped him in the rankings after he declined. He vowed to never do anything for ESPN again.
