I know it’s petty, but part of me takes pleasure in knowing that our transfers that left us for OU are going through this

Its a strange situation, its free agency every year. The schools don't care what happens to the players and the players don't care what happens to the schools. And you can add the coaches as another party as well that really don't care.

Everyone cares for one year, if that.

OU will not repeat our mistakes that led to a downward spiral into football irrelevance. They actually have a competent AD and administration over there.

Pete Thamel is usually pretty spot on. He said OU was focusing on Beamer, Venables and Matt Rhule.

Personally don't think it will be Beamer. He recruited a lot of those guys / has relationships with those players and staff/ admin. Would make sense, just like Venables.

Before Stoops took over they were a train wreck...They hadn't been to a bowl game in like 7 or 8 years...So yeah it can happen to the best of em.

Ah yes, the Schnellenberger and John Blake years. What a disaster those were.

Actually, the first guy after Switzer did OK for a while. Think his name was Gibbs. He was put in a really bad situation though having to deal with scholarship reductions and trying to clean up things after Switzer left.

Matt Rhule is the only maybe legitimate one.

They'll be a crapshow just like us if they pick either of the other two.

So that was during a different era and before Joe Castiglione arrived. They may whiff on this hire, but they won’t go down the drain of irrelevance for 15 years like we did. They have more competence at the top than we did under Hamilton, Hart, and Currie.
