Riley Ferguson makes Elite 11

"How's Ferguson doing?">> Thumb injury seems to be just too much. Didn't see him throw today and had it wrapped/iced

Not good!!!

Lookin like even if the whole QB thing doesn't work out, we have a replacement or palardy

@BryanDFischer: Tennessee QB commit Riley Ferguson just drop-kicked a 35yd field goal barefooted during downtime at the Elite 11.

Riley Ferguson and his thumb go 60 yards in just one pass. Have to love the way he has continued to push after the injury. #Vols

Give Riley Ferguson credit, and don't judge the results, because he's throwing this week with a broken thumb #vols”//Gamer.

Per Twitter.

That's one tough kid

Tennessee hasn't had an Elite 11 since Bray, but this kid is better than a lot of the ones that made the list. He will be one of the ones that the coaches at elite 11 regret for not putting on the list a head of some less tough kids!!! #crazy

For what it's worth, had Crompton not had like 5 different OC's during his stay and had better offensive talent around him (for Pete's sake he had 2 undersized walk-ons on OL), he probably would have had a MUCH better career at UT. He had plenty of games during his senior season that lead me to believe that. Not saying he would have been an All American or anything, but he could have been at least on the level of Casey Clausen or Andy Kelly.

Nope. Crompton was just bad, and consistently bad. He was one of the least accurate QBs we've ever had. He'd throw an out route either 10 yards short or in the 3rd row. It had nothing to do with OC's or talent around him. Last time I checked Denarius Moore and Luke Stocker were pretty good.

Glad to hear good things about Ferguson.

He had a good SR yr under Kiffin.

I hear this a lot. I would say he was better his senior season. Never played like a highly ranked senior. Early in the season everyone was wanting him pulled for his poor play. Kiffin had to cut the field in half so he could read half of the defense. That is not good its kinda pathetic tbh.

Disagree about the effect of 5 different OCs. Crompton wasn't great. He certainly wasn't Clausen good. He was pretty good his senior year though. I think increased confidence and the full support of his coaches helped in that respect. He was overrated in HS against very bad competition, but he was more talented than you are giving him credit for.

I know this kid and his family. Trust me, he is a gammer. He is tough, smart, and die hard big orange.

He will need a little strenght and conditioning during that first year but he is a solid QB.

His personality reminds me of Andy Kelly.
