Ricky Gibson committed Boom

Must have missed my point lol. I was saying that if he gets a glowing review like that as a three star, then would him having another star make it any more glowing? I think not. Glad we got this one no matter what the services say.

Honestly I don't generally care how many stars any one player has, but history does show that it is easier to win with more stars overall.

The proof in the pudding will be whether or not our staff targeted talented players. It APPEARS that we valued this 3 star more than a lot of 4 stars in our region. I have no problem with stars being an assessment of the combination of demonstrated physical capability AND production on the field in games and at camps TO DATE. But I will never accept that their star rating during their SR year of HS represents a ceiling on a players abilities in college or beyond. A handful of 3 stars producing at comparable or better levels as your own or your competitions 4 stars can be a game changer. Just part of the uphill rebuilding deal and increases your competitiveness OR NOT. All TBD every class.

Acknowledging that it doesn't lock in future performance, but 247 Sports didn't even include his commitment as "News" and lists him as #48 ranked CB. Rivals announced it but has him ranked as #62 ranked CB. Guessing Georgia saw that 4.39 and figured you can't teach speed. But those of you that say he must be good based on the teams that offered, I'm not so sure. Yes there was Auburn, but that's a school in turmoil, and then Georgia and Penn State, but the rest of his schools were places like Memphis and Appy State.

I hope it works out for him and he becomes an AA, but for right now, it's another 3 star which is why 247 Sports dropped us to 12th in recruiting as Florida passes us by.

I'll give it a "boom", all small caps. And, of course, your abuse for "denigrating" a commitment.

Well arent you just a ray of sunshine in any thread you crap on? I understand it but there are battered vol shelters for people like you. Not sure VN is one of them :p
Looking at who is ahead of us in recruiting I see us at 15 in recruiting. We will have to sign 5-8 4* to 5* players to move into top 10. See us closing out the class with a bunch of 3*.

I won’t denigrate you. This recruiting class is dropping like a stone. I don’t see a lot of difference makers in this class. Nico brought nothing with him. Who is going to protect you & who you going to throw to. Banks, Gardner& Martinez you got nothing coming back. Heupel nice knowing you.

First off - Georgia was recruiting this guy heavy. Bama had a ton of interest as well early on...as much as there is a reason he is a 3 star, there's as much reason those programs were looking at him that hard.

My opinion, for what it's worth, is the kid is 3 star due to his size. That will get better with a structured conditioning program. At the worst he comes in and becomes a key rotation guy at corner and safety.

This is a good get for us.

This young man will become a star for us before he leaves the hill.

It's even better because we beat out UGa, allbarn and other good programs to get him.

WELCOME young man, we're looking forward to watching you work hard and becoming a star for our footVOL Team!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!!!!!

VFL...GBO!!!

5th or 6th in the SEC aint going to cut it. We ALL know it. Huepel needs to win big this year to help him prove he can develop talent. He needs more to sell, IMO.

Jury is still out for me, but you seem to have already made your decision which I think is hasty considering the track record for this staff of developing players--especially at receiving--into NFL players. Velus Jones was average at USC AND Tennessee and Cedric and JaVonta were 3 star no name receivers. Both Jones AND JaVonta Payton went pro after one year under Huepel. Tillman could have but for some reason decided to return. H & Co put a 2 star, a 3 star and a WO into the pros at UCF. I think one of those may have been a TE.

My only concern is that we lost our WR coach to the NFL. His group was the most improved with exception to QB. You could make a case for the running backs too. Regardless, evidence shows that there is plenty of reason to keep the door open. Think about what Stoops has done at KY with far less.

I think this year will be very telling. If we at least maintain, we are in good shape for the next year. Kind of crazy how different VolQuest rankings are from 247 however. I thought you were out of your mind at first.

One half of the rock and roll express and if we can get Ricky Morton we could have the belts in no time.

Reminds me of a song that a newspaper of the day claimed my great grandfather came up with. Funny enough for those who know me in another thread, he owned a successful cigar factory.

My similar sentiments to any negavol who would think to kick our beloved smokey.

Ev'ry time I come to town The boys keep kickin' my dawg aroun' Makes no dif'rence if he is a houn' They gotta quit kickin' my dawg aroun'

Should have used blue font I guess. Clearly, you don't follow how the recruiting services downgrade players when they commit to UT. It was a slight at them. Try to keep up.
