I kind of wonder if it’s a 2 way street. Sure, I’m sure teams have “middle men” to reach out to players agents as well as players agents reaching out to teams. They are all clogs that belong to the same machine. There is tampering going on full time now. It's a pathetic state of affairs.
You make some good points. But when it comes to the younger generation, I dont think hardly any of them are as big of sports fans as many of us were growing up. Too many other things to compete with. When you only had 3 channels, I was excited to watch most sports on tv that I could. And listening on the radio to the Vols was just as good. Also read every newspaper and magazine I could get my hands on that had anything to do with it too. But I’m around a lot of younger folks and even ones that say they’re fans and wear some apparel barely know anything about the sports they follow and rarely watch the games. My friends and me could usually tell you everything about a Vols games and pretty much all the stats for the starters. Different generations, that’s for sure.I've been a Vol fan since I was 10 years old. So over 50 years. It ran in my family. We came out of Knox, Anderson, and Union counties. Tracing back to the Civil War.
For some reason, over the past couple of years...more so this year...and especially after the Vandy game, it just doesn't seem to mean as much to me as it used to.
The younger generations in my clan don't view UT Football the way we did. They have good reason.
That sucks. I remember when being a "Rabid Vol Fan" meant something.
Progress, I guess...
Go Vols.
He was a sophmore in 24, and a new starter, of course he was not going to be as good as McCoy.When Gibson played opposite of McCoy in the "24 season, it was clear that Gibson was the weaker corner. Not good at times. He was hurt most of the '25 season so don't know if he improved. I think we can do better but need to get busy in the portal.
