So looks like going to have to drop 1 somewhere since we can only have 85 on scholarship.

Wait a minute. Josh Smith still hasn't exhausted his eligibility?? My God, it seems like he's been here since the Fulmer days.

edited to include Brett Kendrick who I had inadvertently left off. McDaniel at DL may also return but I have not included him here.

Also keep in mind that Shy is coming back as far as classification goes. Injury-wise, I wouldn't hold my breath. Dude has a tough, tough road ahead of him.

Same is true for Evan Berry. I'm sure that it was reported his knee injury was severe. Do injured players count on the 85 if they are on injured redshirt?

It's interesting to look at the numbers by position. While there seems to be lot of DL, injuries could dictate extra there. Also CBJ likes to carry 5 RBs. It's highly likely that there will an additional commit at RB. Wonder about Butcher's knee? He has missed a lot of time and it still isn't back healthy. Also wonder if Austin Smith will have a role next season, other than STs. Same for Charles Mosley. For some players, the competition for playing time is getting tough. And several are getting recruited over. 2017 spring and summer practices will be really competitive.

Does anyone know the list of preferred walk-ons on the roster and what their statuses may be going into the off season?

It will have to be 2 because the NCAA limit is 85 scholarship players. Did you also include the 3 players leaving early in Kamara, Barnett, & Malone? Thanks!

Do ANY of the ELEVEN DBs turn and look for the ball when in coverage?

Vols really need Warrior, Osborne, Buchanan, and Byrd (?) to develop into solid DBs. They are the only ones with the skill set to play at the highest level (read speed).

At LB, you know Kirkland is at that level if healthy but the Vols need Sapp, Bituli, McDowell, and TKJr (needs t make this move) to develop into sideline to sideline LBs who can make tackles in space and on the edge.

These are the two biggest areas of concern for 2017.
