Or.... how I learned to dwarf, and that I NEEDED to dwarf badly.

This is my current Survival, Adventure, Action video game crack.

Survival 8 out of 10
Action Combat 9 out of 10
Exploration 10 out of 10
Doing it all Dwarf LOTR style? 10 out of 10

If Valheim/7days to die/Pressure wash/Tolkein had a baby.

This game is okay solo, but in multiplayer co-op it shines... ya need some fellow dwarves for maximum enjoyment..

Also game is HUGE.

Does it have an actual story mode? Or is it just sandbox?

Full on Quests, yes there is a story, mostly questing that rewards upgrades in recipes and gear. If you take the time to read it's also VERY faithful to Tolkein lore. Includes Mahal/Aulë lore, Durin history and prophecy of return. Main quest is heavily connected to the Durin story and mythology. It is the Dwarfiest Dwarf game ever made. Mostly I would say it is almost identical to Valheim progression style. But much more interesting areas to explore, better mobs, and graphics in general. You will basically make a series of bases as you progress deeper into Khazad-dûm and the deeper darker areas of the underworld beneath it. If you like Valheim and LOTR, it's a no brainer.

There are some issues still with snap grid on building....but really minor and mainly bug perfectionists... the Devs have a roadmap and appear to be in this for long haul.....adding updates content etc for a good while. Kinda like an EA except it's already polished release. It's fun solo, but alot more fun co-op. I got a biker buddy and we pretty much look like overgrown 6 ft dwarves irl..lol so our beards have united and playing this game together. It's an absolute hoot and blast with such a friend. Solo it can get dicey combat wise...as it is often you vs say 20-30 opponants. Still totally doable....but you better be good at Dark Souls stuff if you plan to do bosses solo... lots of timed blocks, dodges....your shield is so invincable though that if you just get that timing down you put up Gimli/Legalos numbers and piles of dead orcs and gobs, dodge skill is must for bosses solo. Co-op one person can do melee, while another does ranged and makes short work of the enemy. Lots of Horde type fights.....like the LOTR Moria scene. (...aslo cave trolls suck, but in a lore good way)
