Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 coming to PS4/Xbox One this year

Not surprising considering how well the remastered versions of RE and RE Zero have done.

Plus they are remaking RE2. My guess is they'll remake RE 3 as well (since it's already pretty much RE 2.5) and then remaster Code Veronica.

I can't wait for 2. Would love to play CV again.

4 = Great
5 = Mediocre
6 = Bad

Hoping the Resident Evil 2 remake can get this franchise back on track. Considering how great the first remake was, I have high hopes.

4 is a great game, but not a good Resident Evil game IMHO.

5 is a worse version of 4.

6 overall is meh. I liked Leon's first part where they actually had zombies again, and I liked Ada's section. But Chris and Wesker's son's sections might as well have been a Gears of War game, and the last parts of the game got so stupid. It just made me mad that it started out pretty good and I liked the idea of different characters getting different sections, but for crying out loud stop making the games straight up action shooters.

Agree on all points.

RE2, RE Remake, RE CV, RE3, and even RE0 were better REs than 4, 5, or 6, IMO. Puzzles, zombies, and limited ammunition.

No doubt. RE 2 is up there as one of my favorite games of all time. Almost 20 years later and it's still great. And I could really talk all day about the original 4 (RE through CV).

RE remake is a better game and I like Zero though I thought it was weak storywise. But one thing the original 4 did best IMHO was the music and atmosphere sounds. Especially RE2. The little things about them stand out, like in RE2 when you are running around the city at the beginning and you can hear wind blowing and the sound of zombie moaning in the distance, combined with the empty yet warzone looking streets.

Just typing all that out makes me want to fire up some of the classic RE games this weekend.

Also I didn't mind at all them changing up the style of the RE games like they did for RE4. That's a great game and I love the 3rd person viewpoint. But what I don't get is why they couldn't have just kept the zombie storyline and kept the low ammo, puzzles, etc. instead of making it a shooter with waves of enemies coming at you.

That's why I liked the first part of RE6 with Leon because to me that was closer to what RE4 should have been...before RE6 went off the rails. And both Revelation games are like that and I enjoyed both of them as well.

The atmosphere was incredible with the originals. Like you said above, the last three are too much Gears of War. Fun games. Just not Resident Evil. I wonder if Capcom will realizes this.

Well, they claim they have. They also claimed that before RE6 and so I'm skeptical.

However, the Revelation games have been closer (especially 2), and with them remastering RE and RE Zero I think that's a good sign they might actually get it. Plus with both selling so well and the popularity of an RE2 remake, they would almost have to get it.

I'm really hoping the RE2 remake is as great as the RE remake, but this one will be tougher. I like the original RE but the remake is way better and I always thought the jump in quality from RE to RE2 was very noticeable and therefore it needed a remake. RE2 visually hasn't aged well but the game itself still stands up (minus the tank controls).

I think I'm in small minority of having RE 3 be my favorite game. I loved the gameply of having one huge threat follow you all the way. I know RE 2 had it with MR X but he wasn't as threatening as Nemesis. And I just love Jill. Lol

I'd forgotten about Revelations. I need to finish the first one. 2 was fun. Yeah, besides the visuals, RE2 has aged very well. I played it on Vita not long ago and it's still the best.

You know, since RE 3 basically takes place night before and after RE 2, it'd be really cool if RE 3 content is included in the RE 2 remake.

Also I agree about RE4 beimg a great game but not a great RE game. A good as RE 4 was it changed RE and lead it down the wrong path. RE 4 still had a creepy atmosphere and was pretty scary at times. Regenerators were terrifying.

But RE 5 went way to heavy with the action, same as 6.

Yeah it'd be cool to throw it in there! And yes, the Regenerators were terrifying...

3 of my favorite parts of RE2:

1. When you come across a licker the first time. That cutscene was awesome, and I remember saying "WTF is that?".

2. Later when a licker crashes through the two way mirror when you try to leave a room. Scared the crap out of me.

3. When the Mr. X tyrant dropped through the ceiling in the hallway you were in and starts walking towards you. Freaked me out.

That first licker crawling across the window 😐

I would say the exact same thing. Lol. Also, I was always scared to walk down one hallway where zombie hands would reach through the window.

That's gaming today. They've done it with all the classic franchises. Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid, they are all just mindless action shoot 'em up games with the skins of the classics now.

Even Final Fantasy is going the "action" route with FFXV coming out.

It really is sickening.
