Mods, if this is not the appropriate forum, please move to where needed.
Please keep my brother firefighters, SCEMS employee, and their families in your prayers and thoughts.
Slow down and move over for emergency vehicles operating on the highway!

My chaplain brother just got back from wildlands deployment and am always thankful when brothers and sisters return from on duty because of unforeseen nightmares like this.

Prayers are a given from me and mine. Here's hoping for speedy recoveries and no incident return to duty for all.

Everyone else, spread the word, please slow down, yield left as much as possible, turn on hazards, and drop the high beams, please. Can't tell you how many times high beams made it 10 times worse roadside.

Thanks for opening up and sharing. Sending brotherly love from CO.

Always liked, and admired firefighters. Even more after 9/22/01 seeing guys go into what even I could see on TV was buildings doomed to collapsed at any given time.

Was this off Rock Springs Road off 26 by any chance??

I was texting with a relative up there last night and they told me they were backed up on 26 due an accident at Rock Springs.

Pretty close to it I live off of the Wilcox Drive exit and the traffic was backed down all the way past my exit from the accident

Thanks for all the prayers, it does help more than you know. A little more info, I retired from KFD a couple of years ago. The station and crew that were involved is the station I was working at when I retired.
The two that are still in the hospital are doing good and expected to be released in the next couple of days

Thanks for the update and your service. Glad to hear they'll be getting out soon.

Not many as brave as the firefighters. Mentally spiritually and physically strong men every damn time

Stay alert when driving. Whatever is on your cellphone can wait until you pull over. Live it. Preach it.

Just so I understand....firefighters were fighting a vehicle fire. An accident occurred. They go to help. As they're loading a person into an ambulance from the second accident, a THIRD car came through and hit the fire fighters?

Goodness.

Failure to yeild hazards are more common than you might think. In our neck of the woods, we end up with state troopers getting taken out from time to time as a result of these sorts of events. This is why a lot of LEO agencies are adopting the passenger side approach more than before.

On the fire side, this is less likely because you'll have multiple response units out with lights running so it's harder to miss. When someone takes out a fire or EMS crew like this, I gather they either had a massive cardiac event or were doing something stupid like texting/drinking and driving. Less likely it is intentional, but that's a very different animal if so.

🙏 Glad they are doing better! As bad as this was it could have been much worse. Read this morning that charges are pending against the 19yr old driver.

Prayers and good vibes to all the families.

The roads have become ridiculous in the last decade especially, between the texting and just overall lunacy behind the wheel any more. Penalties for this sort of behavior need to be more harsh if this garbage is ever going to stop.
