Personally I would LOVE to see all parties cease to exist and have people vote based on intelligence and understanding versus just voting based on party lines.

Thoughts??

You'd just be replacing an orderly set of politics with a chaotic brand of politics.

I don't think that would be the case. I asked a couple of co-workers how they would vote and they said Democrat. Then I asked what they believed in and what part of the party platforms they liked best and it turned out that they had no clue what a Dem or Rep was.

...and you have confidence that if party labels were removed that they wouldn't just vote based on who is taller?

As opposed to what we have now in the GOP? Where you have a candidate in a conservative party running as fast as he can to the center?

It would be better. At least they would form an opinion on someone based on something other than party affiliation. I would be willing to bet that about 3-5 million votes in this years election will be solely based off of party lines even though the people voting don't know anything about that candidate or their stances on the issues.

Are you that guy? The guy at work that goes around asking people that don't really care about politics how they feel about politics.

See, that's the biggest problem we face to our freedom, namely that there are so many damn fools in this country who have no idea what is going on and what is at stake. I was talking to a girl at my office a few days ago who told me that she is afraid of capitalism because she doesn't understand free markets. What the hell kind of damn fool statement is that? The idiot population will lead us all off a cliff, if they haven't already done so.

In the end, there is not that much difference between either party...........

Nixon's silent majority will wake up one of these days!

So true. They all believe in big government now. Are we wlready doomed?

That's part of my point. It's going to take getting rid of party politics to shrink the size of government to a respectable level. Maybe I'm just crazy but I like the thought of just thinking of people as Americans and not Democrats or Republicans.
