Report: Nico Almost Sat Out Playoff Game

If true, somebody in a closed locker room should have "Al Wilson'ed" has a$$.

GBO
I think they should just hire our Wilson for that purpose along. Just let him be the enforcer. I don’t care that. He’s almost 50. He could still whip all them boys.

Pretty sure a lot of the Spyre stuff like not attending autograph sessions was known by media but held back.
IF he was not attending scheduled appearances, wouldn't that be breach of contract and be a basis for a lawsuit to recover money paid to Nico?

I imagine Spyre and Tennessee just would like him to go away quietly. If it turns to mud slinging some other stuff could come out from us. Otherwise we’ll steer clear. People talk though. Everyone knows what a pain in the ass that family is now

And could Nico be the reason Squirrel White left? A QB like that is toxic. To go from a top 10 team to FSU..... something seemed really off there
And Laycock and Nimrod, all three would have had legit shots at being starters. And, Matthews almost left. All may have been due to Nico. Nico may have damaged the team by far more than just his departure.

We don't want to be in that business. One of the blessings of having NI hit the portal now is we avoid a potential public spat about $ at the end of next year, if his behavior regarding obligations worsened. Nobody wins in that scenario.

Anyone signing him would be smart to tell him that his father can distance himself as far away from the program as possible.
His dad is not gonna distance himself. Anyone signing him is gonna take them as a package deal. And they may find out sooner than later they oversold their son.

Kopernick's career seemed to work out as expected. Although not the same but organizations dont like thos type of BS. Nico pays the Agent so he has a say as well but didnt do anything about it. what a mess could of walked. They are trying to save face. Most are not buying it

Just curious, does anyone know who this guy is? I'm not familiar with him and just asking. He appears to list a base as Nashville?

I'm only asking because I hadn't seen him until this and it's easy these days to say something outrageous or quotable to get clicks and all that.

I'm not saying it isn't true but I trusted what Chris Low posted because of who he is. Who is this guy?
He is legit. He appears on radio and is well respected in Nashville.

They way underestimated vol nation and the respect the Tennessee Volunteers program has from many who are the elite of the sport in the past and now.

I LOVE that Lanning tipped off Heupel.
It’s not just Volnation on this one. A lot of the national press is pissed that Nic dragged some reporters on Twitter for reporting them shopping around. That and people are just sick of entitled predatory behavior by some of these parties and Nico’s group has about as bad a look as anyone ever in this.

Watch the whole interview if you have time, Pate knows a few people in the program so he knows a lot of what a pain in the absolute ass this kid’s family has been. Without directly pointing a finger he points to the culprit in all of this, Nico’s father.

Hasn’t helped that the Nico camp has went silent and basically disappeared. I expected some kind of statement by now. Don’t know who is running PR for them (maybe no one is); but this NOT how to deal with adverse press
They’ve been exposed. Too many outlets now laying out all the information. Really difficult to say anything at the moment that will shift opinions, particularly when it’s likely true how most of how this all went down. Dan Lanning reaching out to Heupel to notify him they had been shopping Nico is a big problem for Nico/family. This has made them appear to be very conniving, toxic and incapable of living up to the terms of a contract. Those aren’t people you want to be doing business with and the college football world is seeing it in real time.

I hope coaches around the nation blackball his ass and use him as an example...Let him go play jr college ball somewhere and pay his own way.
Would be funny but it won’t happen. Someone will break and give him way more money than he deserves. Accountability eventually hits though, I just don’t think it will be soon. If he lands at a major program UNC would be great drama for numerous reasons.

The fact that the university fought the ncaa so Nico was deemed eligible to play, first team to give a player a contract close to his, a fanbase who immortalized him, he and his family should have some form of loyalty. Nope, none at all. While I’m all for players getting paid, this just isn’t what made college football special. A contract should be a contract. If you leave you should have to pay penalties and buyouts and such.

Yes that's what I meant in my last sentence. Not just vol nation is put off by their actions.

While I would hope this causes other kids/their camps to rethink these type of hostage situation negotiations moving forward, I doubt it will until some actual structure is put in place. If kids are willing to hold out of the college football playoffs, they'll do anything. I imagine this type of thing is happening across the country but it mostly gets handled internally: they get their NIL upped and stay, or don't and portal. But now these situations are started to be tried in the court of public opinion.

Be curious to know what Nico is worth to UNC because he hasn't shown on film to be worth anything close to what he's asking for, but the market does dictate..
