According to multiple reports, the wait may finally soon be over for Tennessee and their top-ranked signee from the 2018 recruiting class.

Per a report from Tennessee’s Rivals.com affiliate site, four-star linebacker J.J. Peterson has “finished his coursework” and is now awaiting clearance from the NCAA Clearinghouse and for his professor to grade his work. Tennessee’s 247Sports affiliate site reported similar news earlier today.

According to Peterson’s high school coach, Rush Propst, Peterson should be ready to join UT officially after this weekend. “He should be there by Monday or Tuesday,” Propst told Volquest.

The reports from both Rivals and 247Sports today came after Internet speculation rose to new levels on Friday morning. Several Twitter users screenshot a conversation on Peterson’s Facebook page where he said he would be joining the Vols on either Monday or Tuesday, which lines up with Propst’s comments to Volquest.

He's in too late to contribute this year, but how in the world is he going to handle a year of college coursework to be eligible next year??

Propst said on Friday afternoon that Peterson ‘finished his (course) work today. JJ will now wait on the Clearinghouse and for the professor to grade his work and post the grade.

College, in general, is quite a bit easier than high school. Outside of highly technical majors this kid is most likely not going anywhere near, college coursework is a joke to pass.

So...he still has not officially joined the team. That makes this like the 10th "update" that says essentially the same thing. And we still don't know if he will be here or not. Cool.

I wouldn’t go that far, but the school does provide a lot of assistance for the student athletes.

People on here are to much. The kid is working on a class, omg we really need this kid he needs to hurry. He finishes the class and you're worried about him passing his college classes. I can tell most of the people on here never played sports or wasn't very good at it. Just living your sports fantasies through other people. Someone will not like this and respond with a childish comment that you probably wouldn't say to my face, but oh well grow up people. Just root for the team and stop complaining about everything.
