I will preface this by saying that I am not faulting Jeremy Pruitt for our current situation. We hired our 7th or so choice and it was always a gamble. The problem is he was a repeat of our previous hiring mistakes: there was no plan. We have not had a plan for succession and still do not have somebody that we are waiting to see develop. We keep being the test. We need someone tested and to be able to strike when we have everything lined up. We fired Butch without a plan. We fired Dooley without a successor. Now we are at a point where we have a few legitimate options and we can't afford to pay anyone. Though I don't want Pruitt, he is a dud, would it be any better to fire him now without a successor?

Also we pulled a Houston Texans, once again. People keep hiring these Patriots and Alabama guys and expecting them to change their programs and it hasn't worked most of the time. Other than Dabo, what Alabama assistant has really done much as a head coach.

The plan fell apart.

That’s how we ended up with captain cornbread. Coaches used us to get raises for places they wanted to be.

If we dont have a sure fire winner lined up, then it makes zero sense to fire Pruitt. The biggest problem lies within the TN administration. There are a few HCs out there who are proven and would likely jump at the chance to come here. Some say Freeze is one of them. I believe Art Briles is another. But I dont see TN hiring either one. TN doesnt have high expectations when it comes to its football program. It likes to bargain shop. And the results prove it.

It is AD malpractice to NOT have a guy lined up. That said, I suspect the AD did have a guy or at least a short list of guys for all the recent fires but it didn’t match with the big booster list.

I think politics and petty pissing contests are the real issue which is how Fulmer was given the chance to hire CJP in the first place.

As for assistants, Kirby is the only one that has posted any real success from Saban’s tree.

Pruit Will be here next year at least. All you are doing is hurting recruiting. Changing coaches every three years is why no top coach will come here.

It can't be because we would never pay them what they're worth. Nope, that makes too much sense. What you said is much more plausible.

Is that why Saban refused to coach at Alabama?

Please enlighten us all, what exactly are the benefits of keeping a head coach who has proven that he is not actually a "head coach" and is failing at all aspects of his job?

FYI, Dabo never coached under Saban, he left bama in 2003. Saban came to bama in 2007.
