True. One thing I'm uncertain of however, is if that WR Brandon Powell (the receiver who tore our secondary up) from Florida is that WR we had committed last year or in the 14 class.
If so, we definitely could have used him at UT.

I agree that you want as much talent as possible, but UT has a stable of 4*/5* receivers and hasn't used them to their fullest potential b/c of a porous OL and QB arm strength. My fear is that unless recruits see more of Dormady, they may go elsewhere thinking our WR core are severely under-utilized/under-developed.
Arm strength? Dobbs has plenty of arm, he lacks touch. He lacks the ability to sell a safety that he's going to one side and then hitting his prime read. Arm strength isn't the issue unless you're talking about Worley last year, and his arm was pretty decent.
If you go to UT you probably have enough arm talent. Rick Clausen couldn't throw it farther than 45 yards and he did pretty well.
Speaking of former commits --- I didn't want to start a whole thread on it, but if anyone remembers former UT commit Jerome Dews, it's starting to become clear why our coaches might've have quietly rescinded an offer to him. Initially, many people thought this was a shady move by our coaches; pulling an offer just because we had "recruited over" him. Now that things have played out, however, I don't think that's what happened at all.
A week ago, I got to wondering what happened with Dews. After his offer from UT was pulled, he accepted an offer from Marshall. He was quietly kicked off the team for unspecified disciplinary reasons this year. After getting booted from Marshall, he want to a Junior College in NYC. He was then arrested for armed robbery. Meanwhile, his entire Twitter feed is riddled with thuggish prima donna like posts.
After reading all that, I'm thinking that our staff must've noticed an increasing number of red flags on Dews somewhere along the way. That's the real reason his offer was quietly pulled.
By the Georgia game that year, teams had figured that out about Clausen. Georgia kept the receivers in front of them and he couldn't make them pay over the top. Before that, you're right. LSU and the Cotton Bowl against A&M he surgically carved them to pieces. Just didn't have even a mediocre arm. Dobbs has a stronger arm than that...it just seems to lose accuracy over 30 yards.

Not so fast, our main concern with Dews was size and strength and I do believe we are still in contact with him as a year in a prison S&C program could do wonders for him as he already possesses elite speed. Glad he has finally got his priorities straight and is setting aside some time to bulk up.
I hope MDObserver is putting the fear of God into this kid so he doesn't end up in the pen the rest of his lifeSpeaking of former commits --- I didn't want to start a whole thread on it, but if anyone remembers former UT commit Jerome Dews, it's starting to become clear why our coaches might've have quietly rescinded an offer to him.
