I'll bet your reaction was the same as mine.

Who? Hmm, I'll bet he's related to Vince Dooley. Ok, yeah its his son. Let me fire up Wikipedia here...hmm, coached at Louisiana Tech...17-20 record..what the..? Really, this is what we just hired?

2 and a half years later and a grand total of 4 SEC wins makes you think that your first reaction was pretty much spot on.

Wrong. I googled him when his name got leaked as being on the short list. That was technically before he got hired.

You don't know me...

I thought the same then as I do now. Some guy got lucky and found himself into a million dollar job based on his name. Doesn't have the experience or the experience of winning to have a job such as this. He hasn't changed my mind one bit.

I remember saying "who?" As the professor told my class. One hour earlier, I had been on VN and the rumors from inside the AD at that time were that Lovie Smith was going to be our guy.

I looked up his record as soon as I heard of him as a candidate. I said "oh no."

That day I came up with my Christmas present analogy. When Kiffin left, it was like a week before Christmas and all of a sudden your kid tells you all they want from Santa this year is the hot toy that is sold out everywhere. What do you do? Well, you can get on ebay and pay some insane amount for this toy. You'll feel sick about it, but in the end, you have the toy, and your kid has a happy Christmas, and eventually you'll forget about the financial sting of it. Or you can give the kid an IOU, tell him Santa couldn't get the toy in time, but he's going to get it in a month, when there are more available, in the meantime, he can play with an interim present. The kid may not be happy, but in a month, he's going to be happy, and he's going to play with his toy and all will be forgotten. Both of these solutions work. But, the one thing you can't do is buy a Sega Dreamcast and try to pass it off as a Nintendo Wii. Because your kid may trust you when you tell him that the Dreamcast is just as good, but once he starts playing with it and once he sees all of his friends playing with their Wiis, he's going to soon realize that you conned him and that the two don't stack up. And he's going to feel cheated. I realized that day that Hamilton was buying a ****ing Dreamcast and trying to pass it off as a Wii.

I was going to feed myself to the lions in my profile picture on Facebook....I then looked him up and saw all of his pictures I was like good lord, but he was the new coach and I'll support anyone who was coming into this dumpster fire...2.5 years later...I'm wanting him gone...I hope he proves himself down the line.

I remember thinking I'm very thankful that Hamilton was a d*ck and didn't allow Bray, Smith, James, or any of the other freshman that arrived on campus to back out of their LOI

Im not one to give in easily to my fan family wishes to change. But is it not true that the Awbun fan base were cussing on their hire at the same time?:ermm::unsure:
What they think now minus a NC?

I thought well he's got potential and he'll have the chance to become a very good coach. An SEC program, lots of resources, etc., a young coach getting his shot to bring all these "organizational skills" to a team and right the ship.

Now I wonder if he was purely a stop-gap coach all along. Buy time to get out from under the Kiffin debacle, get some recruits to stay somewhat competitive and then get a name guy. JMO.

We could have paid the toilet cleaner at the Kenjo a lot less money to be a stop gap...would've gotten the exact same results.
