The Lady Vols lost 10 games. 10 freakin' games.

Got slapped around by No. 1 UConn and a host of others.

Coaches: Pat Summitt, Holly Warlick, Micki DeMoss, Al Brown

They get healthy, pull it together, Pat kicks some butt and they beat UConn on their way to a national championship.

I know, different time, different situation, but not out of the realm of possibility.

And there is a part of me that is hoping Pat turned this team over to her assistants in preparation for what was to come, but that she has enough left in the tank to yank it back and be the Pat we've known for so many years.

I said "hoping", nothing to go on, but one can hope.

God bless Pat for all she has done.

I was thinking of that very fact last night after our blow out loss to Notre Dame.
Guys, I am of the opinion that Holly won't get it done, if she is to be Pat's replacement. If they give her the job for two or three years and then decide to go in a different direction then (1) Nikki will be established in LSU by then with 4 season in Baton Rouge and it is likely that she won't leave LSU since she has already put in hard work to rebuild it. She will likely stay at LSU to see the job done (2) the program will fall a great deal in 3 seasons and it will take quiet a while to get it back up to par if/when Holly is fired. Meanwhile, Gino will get all of the top recruits.
I hope Hart will do what is right and not just promote Holly because of her loyalty to the program.

A lot of people and coaches take good opportunities for advancement with the hopes of being able to return to where they're from at some point in time. Nikki might be one of those. She's from Oak Ridge.

If the program is to continue at the level of expectation for a Tennessee program, you need a top-level coach. My suggestion is Kim Mulkey. Her passion and animation is similar to Pat's back in the day. She took a Baylor program that was nowhere and turned it into the new Powerhouse of Women's Basketball. The question is, would she leave Baylor for UT? Really, would any top tier coach leave their current situation to take over for a legend in Pat Summitt? Impossible to replace Summitt, but could she/he win over the hearts of the LV faithful?

Fine, if Mulkey can find another 6'8" athlete who no one can match up with to bring along with her. One every two years and she can stay in the top ten.
Without Griner, Baylor is just top 15-20...about like the LVs.

Mulkey has a 1 million dollar a year contract through 2017. I highly doubt she will coming to Knoxville to coach.

I remember watching a documentary of that season after the fact. Pat set up trash cans on all 4 corners of the court and made them run for a long time after a bad losse Many were puking in the cans, lol. I don't see her doing that now, especially with her condition

Pat is still running practices. Nothing has changed there. She may have aged a bit graciously away from the run til you puke practices though.:p
