I think it is important that all on here remain on guard and continue to scrutinize the coaching search.

Irrespective of who Coach Fulmer ultimately reports to or which faction of boosters leads the charge and defines the hire, it has been demonstrated that they often get it wrong, and that they could benefit from the collective knowledge and instincts of the rebel rousers on Vol Nation.

Clearly there are exceptions - you know who you are :) but true fans inherently have a feel for who would be a great choice and certainly who would not be acceptable.

Granted some of this is Monday morning quarterbacking - but Fulmer brought us the clawfense, Anderson's faction brought us Derek Dooley, and we all know about Haslam and his head coaching choices.

No one is beyond contamination in this process as there is a certain Pizza sales boy, Nationwide insurance advertiser that has even apparently supported a candidate so unpopular that when .001% of the fan base discovered it - a mini riot ensued.

Please keep the pitch forks and mattresses close at hand, now is not the time to drop back and rest on what has been accomplished.

I think in the words of Neyland -- be ready to pour on steam if needed... the blinders have been removed, a great force and fan base has awoken ... we can continue be instruments for change ... we must have a great head coaching hire.

Accept nothing less.

It will be interesting to see how (or if) Pizza Boy reclaims his heretofore spotless reputation as a Vol/VFL. I hope he doesn't turn in his VFL card for a job kissing Haslam's a$$.

Riiighht...

Let's see here; we have a guy who played for, coached for and now AD's for the university. This same guy spent the vast majority of his life trying to make this football program great and actually accomplished it in 1998.

On the other hand we have a bunch of "rebel" (sic) rousers on VN who only a few actually attended UT, none likely played for or ever worked for UT. and many who never played a down of football or competitive sports past elementary school.

Now who should we let have the final decision on hiring a football coach... Gosh this is difficult. Hmmmm I don't know, should we flip a coin? Can one of you REAL smart "rebel" (sic) rousers start on of them thar poles and see who would know better and choose better.

Sometimes I am absolutely amazed and how ridiculous some people are.

I'm your huckleberry --

Certainly there are those that fall into that category -- there are others who

played D1 sports in the SEC, run a successful business, played for UT, mid range donor ... number below 50 on the donor rolls, etc. etc.

I think you fail to realize how much love and passion the average Tennessean and UT fan has for UT and it's sports programs.

When we read we will give our all for Tennessee we mean we will give our all for Tennessee. It means something, and we know when we are being led to slaughter ( Greg Schiano )

I have personally hired 16 people this year, none as poorly thought out or vetted as GS and most are lower level administrators.

We have already heard that your hero - CPF was part of the interview process and traveled to the interview with the North Carolina State coach .... that alone should tell you that everyone needs to be alert to who is trotted out next.

I like Coach Fulmer, but I don't need Phil's next rockum sockum robot analogy to know that he is extremely old school -- brought us David Clawson as offensive coordinator, allowed his linemen to switch sides to telegraph where the ball was going to be run, so he is far from infallible.

Hopefully, he will demonstrate an, as here-to -fore never seen ability to think outside the box and will get us a great coach.

As for your other references, I would prefer casting my lot with the rebel rousers and the true fans versus the administrators and the high and mighty that traditionally call all the shots. Didn't say Volnation should make the decision - but we should do everything in our power to veto the next Greg Schiano that is rolled out to save the school from another biblical disaster.

Volnation is 99.9 percent passionate Vol fans imho - no more no less.

Remain ever in reality! Great to follow! Great to use social media to let those in power know how we feel. Which in most cases is mixed. Hire him! No! If you do you should be fired! Yada yada yada. Dont know about you but if it is my head in the noose Im making the decision that im willing to put MY! Neck out on the line while you rage on from the safety of your couch with your cell phone. Have fun with this. This has been anything but boring. But at the end of the day dont know about you, but I'm just a fan.

Passionate yes.

However passion rarely leads well thought out decisions.

Knee jerk, uniformed, Ill-advised decisions... That's what passion is likely to bring us.

Not sure where you get that anyone is my hero from my post. I simple stated facts about CPF that are undeniably true. You can make conjecture about Clawson all you want, however the same simple minded Fahr Butch boys who thought hiring a coach would be a simple thing to do were almost certainly the same ones who screamed their little heads off until Fulmer was fired. And yes, they were screaming Fahr Fulmer longer before the 2008 season. To me there looking like bigger and bigger idiots as the decades roll on. That of course is just my opinion because who knows maybe all these Far theCoach/AD's aee pillars of business and community. Probably not the case though

PS we had a great coach and fired him 9 years ago....

This group helped avert daily riots and helped avoid no one showing up for football games for an entire year, the school and the economy taking a massive hit as a result of hiring Greg Schiano.

If we can collectively say - heads up Phil -- we don't think Greg Schiano is a good choice - then yes, we are intent upon alerting people that they have narrowed in on a criminally bad selection.

So far of all those mentioned, only a couple even raise an eyebrow. One or two were really good choices.

From past history with Phil ... he would probably like a do over for Randy Sanders, Dave Clawson.....

I think if given a do-over Phil would have selected other offensive coordinators.

We want what Phil wants -- no more no less.

While I was completely in agreement about revolting about Schiano and Currie, we cannot continue to do it until it pleases everyone. Do it continuously and it sends a very bad message. At some point we as Vol fans have to trust our AD will make the right decision.

Keep the solidarity but also use some common sense as well.

You can argue both sides of the fire Phil -- but Phil was his own worst enemy.

I think he probably could have turned it around, but shame on him for not having a great plan both times when Cutcliff left, took most of the offensive staff, killed recruiting and led to losing seasons. Phil's answer was Randy Sanders and Dave Clawson. That's the kind of thought process that brings you Butch Jones and Coach Scott as OC.

These guys don't examine the landscape and realize who and what they are competing against.

The AD has to be so strong, and so knowledgable that they can go to the President, go to Davenport and go to Haslam, Anderson, etc., etc. and say we have to have more funds to be competitive. If we can't get great assistants .... we will not be able to compete.

Now we are reminding them ... a Greg Schiano hire will be an unmitigated disaster. It is part of Giving our All for Tennessee. It is what we do.

Absolutely sad..

How quickly some of you turn on a guy who literally risked an NFL career to come back and entertain you for another year, who has been an ambassador like no other for the university, and has donated more than most of you have made in your lifetime. Pizza boy??

Really sad. The board admins won't let me say what I really think so I'll just go with sad..
