I did not get to listen to the press conference, so excuse me for this question.

Let's assume that Pearl really did see the error of his ways in lying to the NCAA and confessed that to Hamilton. Exactly at what point did he go to the NCAA and say "I lied, here is the truth"?

That would seem to be something major in all of this that I have not heard yet.

I'm sure it wasn't the next day, that's for sure. Probably after he figured out he wasn't going to get away with it.

He went 3 weeks after the meeting with the AA.

Rucker said it looks like he came clean before the NCAA found out that he was misleading them and that could save a lot of the punishment.

WE ARE TENNESSEE! and we will overcome this like everthing else. I applaud Pearl's honesty - that's more then some other Football coach we had could or would do....

That's funny, considering his lack of honesty is what got him in trouble.

I just watched Pearl's presser, and I do know these things:

- He knows he screwed up, and has publicly admitted it and is not laying blame anywhere but with himself,
- He is ashamed of his actions, but I think he is most ashamed he wasn't forthcoming to the investigators,
- He TRULY does love "his family, the university, its fans and his players" and is hurting because of what this does to all of them,
- He wants this to be a learning experience for his players to learn honesty and integrity.

In my book, I can buy it and support him 100%. I can't think of anyone who hasn't made a mistake...but to me...he handled this upright and took it on.

Learn from this and move on. You're not Calipari (thank God) so don't stoop to that level.

Go Vols!

It seems he didn't mislead the NCAA purposely and contacted them to set the record straight when he found out they were mistaken in his comments, seems pretty stand up to me .........

"Hamilton said Friday that Pearl provided the information while being interviewed in June about allegations of excessive phone calls made to recruits. Pearl notified officials three weeks later that he had provided the NCAA incorrect information."

"I've made some serious mistakes, and for that I'm truly sorry," a tearful Pearl said during a Friday news conference. "I provided incorrect and misleading information to the NCAA. I've learned some invaluable lessons. After I provided the false and misleading information, subsequently I went back and corrected the record.

"I learned that it's not OK to tell the truth most of the time, but you've got to tell the truth all of the time," he said.

He still f'ed up. The fact that some of you are back to praising him kill me. "Oh ok because we're competitive now we can forgive him for cheating". That's crap. How many people that are right now supporting Bruce belittled Sampson for the same thing? By lying in the first place, he risked having LOIC placed on us.

Ok George Strait. Can you check yes or no on if you can honestly say that you know all facts regarding this situation?

Who knows what will come of this. I dont think Tennessee knows. Bruce has been a stand up representative of college basketball for years and to doubt anything at this juncture is pushing the envelope a little too much. Lets wait to see what comes of this and find out what we are officially being accused of in the first place.
