After listening to Coach Jones who mind you I wanted to see succeed at UT, It's refreshing to have a HFBC that tells us like it is. He's brutally honest and speaks football not coach speak. You know exactly what the staff had planned and how they either executed or lack of therefore. After the game this Saturday him pointing out the bonehead play after the INT spoke volumes that he coaches every down and while you may look at his press conferences as he seems not into it, he answers all questions intelligently and explains to the fans instead of recruit coach speak we had with butch. He's also getting back to watch the tape. Having played D1 ball, our coaches stayed in the film room and then it filtered down to us so Sunday's was film break down. Team and then position. Folks we finally have a football coach that knows HOW TO WIN and what it takes. EFFORT, which is one thing my head coach in college drove into our brains. Our effort has been there all year but the light bulbs didn't go off until film, coaching, and results started to kick in.
The confidence CJP has just screams out in his pressers and he's down to earth. Yes you can tell he'd rather be watching paint dry instead of talking to the press so with that stay with me for a few more minutes of reading this thread. (It's your call to give it's a TLDR).
Refreshing things about our 2018 Team.
1.) This teams plays hard, results aren't what the staff wants or the players.....hate to say it but the fans mentality plays a part because their job (our job) is support our team and stay behind them.
2.) The Oline has been the weakest link for the entire season but if you watched the game and saw the progress this unit has made week to week, you see progress and a unit jelling. You have to have continuity with the same personal and communication on the OL is a MUST..... If the line isn't talking you're playing individually and you saw this for about 4 games. The OL took a major step forward this past Saturday.
3.) This staff adjusts during the game and after the half. This is something we haven't seen in the last 2 staff's. While I dislike Kiffen they could make halftime adjustments but not so much in game.
4.) The defense is nasty, nasty. The have taken on the coaching mentality from CJP and they have seen the success if they listen to the man they will be successful. We have seen this when he has been yelling at players and coaching them from the sideline and good things happen when they listen. The man can coach.
5.) We have an AD that knows what it takes to win and he's making UT Football the #1 priority to getting UT back.
6.) Last but not least, going into this Saturday's game against Locke, I think our young secondary which CJP already did at UGA knows talent and regardless of class ranking will play the best player regardless if he's a freshman. Look at the amount of freshman he played at UGA and how those kids finished their careers at Georgia.
Bottom line and I'll stop the post but people we finally have a football coach. I would have loved to have played for CJP but I loved my college coach also but CJP gets the nod.
