If what I heard is true, the Vols have 10 out of 11 offensive High School All Americans, that would go to show how important coaching really is. Apparently we've failed miserably this year if that's the case.Maybe we should go after some bigger hearts, not all talent.

They aren't all busts. The recruiting experts are not dumbasses. It's coaching. And if you don't believe me look at South Carolina....A team with 4-7 talent is 6-3. Look at Virginia Tech.....3 star players all over the place and they kick butt with regularity. Notre Dame was a consistent 7-4,
6-5 program and are back to top 10 in one year. It's coaching baby, all coaching.

All I have heard this year is that UTs offense is too predictable, and requires the Vols to outman teams to be successful. :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

I guess it comes down to if you want a 5 star recruit or a 4 star with heart. I would take the 4 with heart any day of the week. I think that Fulmer himself (not related to milo) said that this offense doesn't have a hero and I tend to agree. We don't have a hero and you get the feeling there's a lack of heart sometimes. Foster has heart. That's a good start.

And Penn State.

Most of their assistant coaches have been there for a long time. Dick Anderson has been coaching the offensive guards and centers for 28 years. Tom Bradley is in his 26th season, 5th as Def Cord.. Larry Johnson is in his 9th season coaching the DL. Bill Kennedy is in his 17th year coaching offensive tackles and tight ends. Brian Norwood is in his 4th season coaching DB's. The QB's coach, Jay Paterno has been there for 10 years, 4 as QB coach. Ron Vanderlinden is in his 4th year as LB coach. John Thomas is in his 13th year as strength and conditioning coach.

And then they added 2 brand new coaches, Galen Hall as OC, and Mike McQueary, as WR coach.

Hall and McQueary are in their 1st year. Have you noticed a difference?

:biggrin2: it is really hard to judge recruiting. i follow it every year and i just go by the players ability. his size, weight , forty time. cj fayton and chris hannon were QB's in highschool. turk mcbride a linebacker, al wilson a runningback. you never know where these kids are going to play.
