I think you just crossed over from the Tennessee Football Forum...to the Politics Forum...and showing signs of wanting to dabble into the Wife Picture Swap Forum...

BTW: The post was meant to be humorous, Captain Obvious...and I'll bet you thought you were clever in uncovering my underlying pathological intentions. Shame on you.:loco:

No chance to finish in the Top 20 with 80+% of our class composed of 3stars. We're ranked that high right now only because of quantity, not quality. Gonna have to replace some current commits with higher rated players and finish strong with guys like Smith, Gibbs and Chandler to get into top 10 IMO.
C'mon, KB! This is now the 4th straight year that Butch has signed a bunch of 3*s...only to later on let some of them go to make room for the 4's and 5's he's working on. As is the definition of insanity "repeating the same action while expecting different results," Butch is apparently applying the contrasting definition of sanity, which could be stated "prudently repeating what has always worked before." Jeeeeeeeeez!:banghead2:

BTW...that second like you got was an accident; meant to hit the "quote" icon. This Bud's on me.

And what did I just write? That on this current pace we're not sniffing a top 10 class and that he's gonna have to cut some lower ranked guys and replace them with some higher ranked guys....he's done that in prior years and I expect him to do it again.....but it hasn't been done yet for the 2017 class and until it is, this is only a top 20-25 class, not 5 or 10.

Also, I suspect, like most everybody else does, that he's gonna get some very highly rated guys like Smith, Chandler and Gibbs to close out the class.

All that being said, if he doesn't do those things, make those changes, the 2017 class will be a significant drop from Butch's last 3.

Nnnnnnnnno, Kirby. UF? Puleeez! I sorta'do and sorta' don't go along with your hypothesis overall, but you're apparently expecting the gayduhs to overachieve exponentially. I'm tossing that one out figuring you may have been hung over or something when you posted that. Not sure about all 6 of those others winding up ahead of UT (BTW, you left out tOSU and popular choice UM). Why? Concerning those other teams you and I mentioned, you're leaving out the fact that a growing number of 5*s and noteworthy 4*s won't sign with anybody until the drama's reached its pinnacle, which will occur on NSD. That's next February. We've got to consider those teams' records at season's end to determine if most of those other 8 programs are indeed more likely to sign higher ranked rosters than UT. I'd say throw out half of them just on that criteria. Don't you think the Vols will win...say...at least 10 games? 9 just wouldn't cut it and 10 possibly would be close...barring at least the SECC. We've got to also consider the earlier signees naturally levitating toward the teams which are getting lots of attention throughout the season...looking hot and being hyped....you know...glam programs of the moment. If our Vols make an impressive mark on those first half-dozen games, then let's figure at least 2 of those 5*s will be coming on board prior to the USCjr game, with an additional handful of 4*s...collectively some time before season's end; even more with an SECe banner in December. Those current 3*ish commits will become more and more nervous as the season progresses (gradually being pared off), provided the Vols are notably impressive at least up to the bammer game. I don't read minds other than my own, but mine tells me a lower than #8 ranking should indicate more than a pair of Ls are on the record by that point. Finally: I don't hold faith in the mindset that gobs and gobs of 5*s are necessary for NCs, but the mere fact that a program can attract the most coveted players out there highlights those most desirable programs which are inviting them to join. IE it's a true luxury to cherry pick through nothing but the most-likely-to-succeed crowd. Butch is a clean closer and if Shoop's D becomes the orange swarm that's being predicted and if DeBord's fast and physical offense meets its expectations as a terrifying juggernaut for DCs, then we can/should expect no worse than a #5 composite ranking on NSD. Let's never forget: At the end of the day...winning championships trumps all else. AMIRIGHT?

uh

I didn't include tOSU or Michigan because they are already ranked ahead of us. We won't pass them. Florida will close strong just like last year. Yes, if UT goes to SECCG or the playoffs it could drastically change the outlook of our class (but that should go without saying). Still a long way to go for that top 10 territory.

247 Sports composite is the best source to use for rankings period. Not Rivals. Not Scout. Not other sources. They have us ranked 9th composite right now after all the latest signings.

They also keep things updated regularly 2017 Football Team Rankings

That will change drastically once more teams like Clemson, OU, LSU, FSU, Auburn, UF, & USC get to the 20 commit mark. If I had to guess I'd say we finish 10th-15th. Top 10 would be nice but realistically we are a bit behind that mark. Even if we land Akers, Chandler, Smith, Gibbs, Foster, etc (who are all big targets) then we're still hovering right outside the top 10 (based on past years' results).

We get all 5 of those guys then I won't give a rat fart where some service has us ranked. I will be dancing in the streets... possible sans clothes....

It's pretty simple. Make or win the SEC Championship game and we will have a top 5 recruiting class on NSD. If we finish 2nd in the East again we will be no better than top 15 because the top guys want to go to winners plain and simple.

They are pretty realistic targets. I think Coach G gets Chandler & Akers on board. Foster has been high on us for a while. Trey Smith is taking the process a bit slow but we are at or near the top. I'd be shocked if Gibbs goes anywhere but UT.

A lot VN posters put too much importance on stars and criticize the staff for it. They put more weight on character than these posters. The police blotters have had very little action out of our last two groups. Talent doesn't help you much sitting in jail or on the sidelines. Trust their judgment to get the right players who want to play here!

GO VOLS!!!
