When does it become difficult for Tennessee to continue adding players to this class with how many current commitments they have? I am sure other schools are using a negative strategy right now against us saying if you commit or stay committed Tennessee is going to have to ask people to look around. When is this going to hurt us?

I would think that the big time players have nothing to worry about but for the average recruit that's a good question.

I, for one, am glad the coaches have this problem and will leave it up to them to make the numbers work out in our favor.

I think this is a good point.

IMO it might help to clear up the numbers issue publicly. If I am a parent of a recruit i am skeptical.

If dews is grey shirting it would help if that was public. I find it odd that "his dad" on VN admits that he is going to grey shirt but nothing official from VQ.

How dare Butch Jones not keep the public up to date on what's going on behind the scenes.

We added 2 guys today so clearly the staff isn't having trouble convincing recruits to sign on.

This is perfectly reasonable and would take the issue off the table for other coaches to use against us. It is always best to be proactive before the seeds of doubt are planted.

If I am recruiting against us for Malone I am selling the family that if he goes to Tenn he is forcing a commited kid to go elsewhere. I am hammering the loyalty might not be as it seems with the staff at tenn.

Same could be said about most other programs as well.

Clemson, FSU, and Georgia don't have a full class of commitments yet to my knowledge. That's the point.

It clearly could be sold that going to tennessee is forcing a public commitment to go elsewhere. IMO that could get certain parents to question the loyalty of our staff to their players. Malone's parents seem to be very protective and the kind of family that might be effected by that

Well, if you are a two-star, and in some cases a three-star, you better have an exit strategy.
GO VOLS!

How do we know that behind the scenes some players have already been told their spot has been taken away, but they just haven't publicly decommitted yet?

I am sure Malone's worry over who will be throwing him the ball is a much bigger one than this.

Well we have 33 now, I think we end up with A. Jackson, Mosley, and one more between LB Garrett/DT Reed/DT Heurtelou and get one more "surprise" commitment. So that's 37 commitments. I think we only lose 2 current commitments and we blue-shirt 3, grey shirt 2. I just came up with this just now I have no insider information. Just my out of the blue prediction.

Yes they might have been told privately. That's my point. Make it public so a Clemson can't sell the Malone's on forcing a kid to go.

If dews is grey shirting why not make it public since his "dad" brought it here?

We dont know what Butch is telling the guys like Malone. He may know something we dont know and maybe something enemy staffs dont know either. For example, there might be someone who has the means to by-pass a scholarship and let family pay the way (and I'm not talking about the Berrys)and thus free up a spot. Someone may not qualify either. Though this seems unlikely, strange things happen on the way through the clearinghouse. Butch probably has figured out the negative angle other coaches might use and I bet he has it covered.
