I have been a Tennessee fan ever since I have seen them play, which has been about 10 years. I always heard how great our recruiting is and that we should always win the Championship every year with our talent. So my question to the Nation is WHERE ARE THEY????? We had arguable the best QB ever here, a running game that features 3 deep at RB, 3 deep at receiver most of the time, a wall for an O-Line, Nasty D-line, fast and hard hitting LB's, and a very talented secondary most of the time. So can we honestly say that winning 9 games a season with the talent we have had or even 10 is justifiable??? I mean come on if your not winning championships what are you accomplishing??? Look at USC. Alot of people love em alot of people hate em, but they win Championships (prolly gonna be 3 this year unless upset by ND or UCLA) so where are ours??? It is linked to Conservative play calling, clock management, and most of all under developement of our talent that we recruit year in and year out. So my challenge to Coach CPF, Randy Sanders, and John Chavis for that matter is GET NASTY and develop this kids into STARS!!! Our D could shut down EVERYONE but its not NASTY enough to. Our offense could score 30+ every game but we aren't NASTY enough to do it. I mean how much respect you gonna give another team??? You think Spurrier cared about CPF's feelings when he was running up the score against us at Florida??? My Lord when will we get NASTY and play up to the potential we have and its not all the coaching staffs fault I do blame the players too. Forget about the NFL guys and play COLLEGE FOOTBALL. Score, Score, SCORE. Make everyone you play want to pee on themselves when they step on the same campus as you. I will never EVER say Tennessee has had a good recruiting class again until they show me the talent they actually have. I hope this is put in the locker room this week or next week and everyweek for that matter until YOU GUYS GROW SOME BALLS AND GET NASTY AND KICK THE OTHER TEAMS TEETH DOWN THEIR THROAT LIKE WE ALL KNOW YOU CAN. GROW UP AND PLAY LIKE YOU KNOW YOU CAN AND YOU KNOW YOU CAN OR GET THE HELL OFF MY FIELD I PAY FOR YOU TO PLAY ON. And as far as CPF, Sanders, and Chavis.......YOU NEED TO GET THESE BOYS PLAYING NOW!!!!! TURN THEM INTO ADULTS AND WARRIORS!!!!! OR GET READY TO LOSE YOUR JOB CAUSE FINISHING BETWEEN 10 and 20 IN THE POLLS EVERY YEAR IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!!!!! Sorry to rant but I know what our team is capable of and not playing up to. Recruiting means NOTHING without Championships and like I said where are ours???

You forgot to add Special Teams.

I think TN has had lack luster punt placement and has more penalties on kick offs than any other year I can remember. I swear TN was starting from their 5 yard line or less religiously against UGA. Coach Steve Caldwell needs to step up BIG!

Somebody give Erik Ainge a chance on the field with some better plays than he has been delt thus far.

Take advantage of our mismatches at reciever, Jason Swain will win the jump ball contest. Can we get Corey Anderson the ball more??? My gosh he is 270 lbs of whoop ass coming out of the back field. CJ Fayton will smoke CB's and create space with Safeties. Our recievers are very talented but they are dropping some crucial passes.

Sanders is my least favorite play caller ever, the problem is that his play calling is so elementary and predictible. He did show some cretivity against UGA. That is a start.

Don't forget that both teams we have lost to this year have been ranked right up there with us in those rankings. When the talent is even, it's coaching that puts you over the edge. We don't have that edge in most cases.

Yeah, recruiting is by far not the issue at Ut. It is more like lack of discipline. Talent has to be molded into greatness.

We are not that talented. Out starting QB does not have a very good arm, and WR drops lots of balls, and our O-line doesnt blow people off the ball or provide enough time to throw. Our problem is the passing game, and thats mainly the QB play and WR's.

The head coach is ultimately responsible for everything.

Ainge was very successful last season in the dumbed down version of the Tennessee playbook. He self-admitted that he has been overwhelmed this season because Fulmer required him to learn the entire playbook. Clausen knows the playbook... he just can't execute all the plays.... Ainge could execute all the plays... he just doesn't comprehend all of them.

Regardless, this is Fulmer's fault. If the dumbed-down version of the offense worked last season... with Tennessee's improved defense this season... that would be a winning combination. They beat Florida, Georgia and Alabama last season with a worst defense!

As far as expectations.... my thoughts go to Auburn in 2003, when they were preseason ranked so high and then finished 7-5. With the same players, in 2004 they went 13-0. Luckily for Tennessee, they don't play any I-AA teams in 2006.

A great comparison . . . In 2003, Auburn lost to Ga Tech and USC and actually didn't even score a TD until the 2nd quarter or game #3 against Vandy. Their offense looked far worse than ours, but we all know how they turned out toward the end of '03 and into '04.

We are that talented, but not at QB though. I was making a comparison of the past years if you read the context of what I wrote correctly. Just think of who all have passed through UT and yet we only have one championship to show for it. Now it is the coaching most of the time, but sometimes the players need to get it together and do it themselves. Do you actually think the coaches make themselves look smart??? No the players do that for you as long as the plays you draw up have time to be executed.

Ainge cant execute the playbook. He was throwing the ball 4 yards over the wr's heads most of the time or throwing it to the other team. Ainge got benched cause of turnovers and overthrowing receivers. It doesnt matter how much of they playbook you use if your QB overthrows your WR's or they drop the passes.

i think that it is not only the coaches fault but also the players...

when you get amazing recruits you need to develop them as a person and as a player...

they are also to blame for not coming to workouts and stuff...

Look at the key positions on offense the Vols had in the late '90s. QB, RB, and WR are deep in the pros.

However, the cupboard has been bare the past several seasons regarding the talent at those positions and their ability to go on into the pros.

Peyton Manning, Tee Martin, Shawn Bryson, Jamal Lewis, Travis Henry, Phillip Crosby, Peerless Price, Cedrick Wilson, Eric Parker, Donte Stallworth, Kelley Washington, Jason Witten, Jermaine Copeland (CFL). All these guys were 2001 or before.

Since 2001, only seldom used FB Troy Fleming has made a pro squad from the QB/WR/RB positions at Tennessee.
