Recruiting Needs for 2015

A top flight QB is the biggest need by far. There's not even a close second. We could skirt by with reasonable classes for the other positions. QB is crucial and (judging from the urgency of their search) the coaches know it.

I agree. However, given a choice, would we rather take a 5 star pro style, or perhaps a 4 star dual threat QB?

Since many on here are calling for 2 of them, I would say both. LOL

I saw on 247 where miami just offered the QB from Baylor in Chattanooga. Nick Tiano is his name(6'5 220). It was his 1st offer.

I agree getting an elite QB is crucial, but there is definitely a close second. We desperately need more OL. We currently have 10 and a contending team needs 14-15.

You aren't the only one, but I see you have 6 DL on there. We have 19 on scholarship and no one seems to see that. With only Williams and one other graduating next year, you and several others are suggesting we will have 22-23 defensive linemen on the team. That's more than a quarter of the team.

Give or take a DE but im set on 3 DT's for this recruiting cycle

How do the pros make it with 10 or less (sometimes 7 or 8 on game day) in a 16 game season?

Because when 2-3 inevitably get hurt you promote from the practice squad or sign a free agent...not options in college.

After looking at it, I'm not sure a top 10 type QB is a must have. Getting a QB is a must for depth of course. As I mentioned earlier, it may be tough to pull a top guy with both Dobbs and Fergs having 3 years to play. If they don't land Gentry, I think it will be Matt Williams and possibly Jennings IF he is willing to slide to S if QB does not play out.

Ferg has 4 years. RS last year.

Oh yeah huh?...But it's easier keeping your Everclear down when you're kicking touchdowns...a few violent collisions trying to block Carl Lawson might inspire some :pukeb::pukeb::puke5:

Their 10 are conditioned athletes who were top tier college players and they have the practice squad, free agents and trades to back them up if they face excessive injuries.

I think Dobbs will RS in 2014 and Fergs will be the #2 to Worley. My comment was more less saying they would both have 3 years to play starting in 2015 when 1 of them takes over the starting job and the 2015 QB was coming in. Because of that I think it will still be tough to get a top 10 QB talent to commit to Tennessee.

In the NFL, you can make trades, pick up someone off waivers, and a few other ways my brain can't recall at the moment. In college, you simply do not have that option.

I just hope Ferguson turns out to be as good as I'm hearing. If not, Dobbs didn't excite me, and we could have an extremely hard time scoring next year.

Very possible.

Where does Peterman fit?

Coach Chaney really liked him and he's got all the measurables. Would like to see em stick around and get another chance.

With us not taking a QB in 2014, he may well stick around and see how it plays out. I honestly don't think he is in the future QB plans for Tennessee.

I am inclined to agree. However, we are mostly basing that opinion on one half of football. A dreadful one, but one nevertheless.

If Peterman gets another chance, I know all our stomach will be doing flip flops as he runs in. But wouldn't it be something if he lights it up? Hell, it wouldn't be the first time a college QB turned things around, and proved himself. If he does that, I can't wait to see the reactions on here. Epic.

The 2015 class spots available stand at 12 currently. My class prediction of 18 means we lose 6 kids currently on the roster.

Butch already had 7 commitments prior to signing day for 2014 - you really think he is only bringing 18 in for 2015, 11 more for the rest of the year?

I just see no way this happens - we will be at 25 or very close to it imo

That's the great thing about a message board. Everyone can have an opinion. If we take 18, that means we lose 6-7 guys on the current roster. 25 means we lose 13-14. We'll see how it goes.
