Well, it’s here….

We officially open up conference play with a colossal matchup between the likely #1 vs #12 teams, with a Manning playing in Neyland again. This is a game that everyone has had circled since the schedules were released, and now 3 weeks into the season it appears even bigger.

Both teams are coming off of uninspiring performances, coming in different ways. Texas has a veteran QB in Manning, who seemingly struggled today and struggled last week too. Texas’s opponents weeks 2 and 3 have given Jim Knowles a blue print to slowing Texas. On the other side, Tennessee is coming off of a 42-9 victory. Tennessee had it’s fair share of struggles throughout the game with the offense, as the running game was feast or famine, as well as Faizon showing his inexperience by holding onto the ball too long and not pushing the ball deep on occasions. Without further ado, here’s the keys and prediction to the game:

1. Confuse Manning
Manning is elite when making the proper reads presnap, it is important to confuse him with disguises presnap and shifting coverages. Run stunts to help accelerate his mental clock

2. Play a clean game
we have had troubles with penalties throughout the season, though things improved today. It is important to continue to improve on the penalties, especially at home

3. OL HAS to improve
Texas has a stout DL and LB corp, we have to play sound on the OL. Sham got exposed tonight, theres no other way to put it. The fact hes our best option is very vindictive on Elarbee. We have to stick to a starting 5, and sham is not one of the 5.

4. Expand the playbook
We have kept things vanilla the first 3 weeks on both sides of the ball, time to open things up a bit, throw Texas looks they havent seen yet!

5. Faizon needs to play the game of his life
Will Muschamp is arguably one of the best DC’s in the game, Faizon needs to play clean, because you can bet your bottom dollar Muschamp is going to force Faizon to beat them through the air

Prediction
Unfortunately, I just think Texas’s defense and passing game will be too much to handle, I dont think Faizon is there yet to be able to put the team on his back and win the game. I think we hang with them for most of the game, but Texas gets separation towards the end

Arch has turned it over 2/3 games so far. He’s been under 200 yards passing in 2/3 games so far (including tonight against UTSA). I think Knowles is gonna earn his money next week.

The question is - can our offense step up to the plate? Gonna need Faizons legs for this one - and our O line has to own the game this week. Our O line vs their D line could determine the result.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t have a ton of hope for this game coming into the season - but after watching Texas along with how multiple we’ve been on D. I think we stand a good chance next week especially in Neyland.

34-20 Texas????? In Neyland??? You are about to be removed as the thread starter!

I think this is a low scoring slugfest. I think Knowles opens up the defense and really confuses Manning. He throws at least 2 INTs. Add to that, the moment of being a Manning in Neyland is too big for him. We are able to run the ball just enough to pull this one out.

Our new awesome FG kicker wins it for us.

As long as we can figure out what's going to happen when Manning starts yelling "OMAHA", we should be good to go.

Gonna be closer than “experts” say. We can win this game, as Texas hasn’t really been that impressive in my opinion. If we can establish the run early, our defense can pressure Manning, and the fans come alive and stay loud, this game can swing our way! Go Vols!
