'21 Recruiting Forum: Official Ole Miss Pregame/Game Thread

We didn't play our best game yesterday. However, we played well enough on D that it shouldn't have been in question. Our offense was not operating at the level it should have been. Even with that though, the refs cost us this game with the scoop and score reversal and then again with the very obvious fist down that they didn't give us. Those refs should be ashamed that they let those two calls happen. That game should never have been that close but it was and the refs inserted themselves at two crucial points in the game and dictated the end result. Refs should never decide the outcome of a game but they did.

I am happy that our team fought all the way to the end but was disappointed with the last play. You have to at least heave the ball to the end zone and hope for the best. Running the ball was not the answer.

I don't think that last 4th down was obvious. Even in replay it was close because he didn't stretch the ball. My blood is still simmering over that scoop and score reversal though. Agree with everything else here too
Offense was lackluster, and I'll add that we had double digit 3rd and longs where we couldn't get off the field.

Coaches dialed up enough to win even with injuries and bad calls--penalties and the fumbled punt should be the focus. These are execution issues. Hard fought game. Lot's to process.

Has anyone noticed how far the line judge who spotted the ball was from the 4th down play. He was more than ten yards upfield.

Actually, he was about 15 yards up field. One of the whole host of terrible spots at the football all night. Spots for us were well short of the line we gained, and spots for them were well ahead of the line they gained.

I agree with going for the field goal also… seems as though other teams make their longest field goal ever made, against us quite often.

Somebody needs to call our FG kicker to the side and say, "Dude, even when you make a FG or extra point it goes in beside the right upright. You might want to give up on the idea you hook your kicks and line up correctly."

Heup and staff are getting all they can out of this roster. But the coaches are not perfect and the play calling on both sides was suspect often last night. I believe both coaches and players are giving all they have. Some just have more to give than others. To get much better we have to recruit much better. We have coaches who can develop.

Paxton Brooks was special last night.

Again, no more Milton - please. I'm asking nicely, Heup.. Move HB to backup and roll with what you have.

Please, dear God, heal HH, T-Evans, Cade and Coop. Please. We need to at least get to 6-6.

I just want to beat UK...but I don't think it will happen with all the offensive injuries and weak spots in the defensive lineup.

Despite all the bitching at coach Banks...he did a masterful job of hiding those weaknesses a lot of times last night.

They are dual threat QB's for a reason. You cannot defend just one thing they do. Which beat them since the O did not do its job and the officials ripped them a new one.

I wondered the same thing. Times must be tough or else they cannot find any cameramen like with the rest the vacant jobs in the country.

Only thing I hate from tonight is the apologies from our admin. We got screwed. If you don’t want a **** show, don’t produce a **** show.

The apology for throwing stuff doesn’t bother me. The thing is though there needs to be someone taking a stand about these terrible calls that consistently happen. There needs to be someone doing a PowerPoint presentation over the horrendous calls and name names when doing it.

The offensive players didn’t except Coral. They need to let their offensive hydration specialist take over as defensive hydration specialist too. Double that guys pay. Whoever was in charge of hydrating the defensive players failed miserably.

The scoop and score call was one of the worst calls I have ever seen in college football but is about par for SEC officials. They stink. They actually took a TD and momentum away from our VOLs. However, the neither of the bad calls call for what happened near the end of the game. If you want to abuse Kiffin, find a way to do it without injuring men, women and children. Fans , band members, and cheerleaders to not deserve the abuse.
