Tennessee heads up to Kentucky this week to take on the Wildcats. Kentucky fans are probably feeling pretty optimistic this year, given victories over USCe, who obviously is in decline, a close loss to Florida, and a win over Mizzou. Though these are quality wins for a team the caliber of KY, they will need more firepower than that to top Tennessee.
The Vols seem to finally be hitting their stride this season, in spite of a tough loss in Tuscaloosa, and have a good chance at running the table. Let's see how they stack up against KY
Keys to Victory:
1. Play your game: Kentucky simply does not have the athletes to stack up against Tennessee, on offense or defense. Tennessee should need to do anything special to secure the win, just come out and play your game.
2. Secondary Play: To date, KY QB Patrick Towles has thrown 9 INT and 8 TD's. KY relies a bit more on the pass than the run, but honestly, does neither that well. Towles has 5 INT's in the last 3 games. TN has not had enough picks this year, and securing 2-3 would be nice here.
3. Pound the Ground: Last year, Dobbs did not take off too much against KY, because quite frankly, it wasn't needed. Look for more of the same this year. Though Dobbs could probably run for 100+ easily, expect him to keep it no more than 5 or 6 times, unless the game is unexpectedly tight. Dak Prescott ran for over 100 last week, so the coaches may choose to exploit that, but I suspect they would rather not risk the injury.
Hurd will see a lot of the rock, and Kamara will get a nice dose as well. KY is soft in the middle and we have the speed to get to the edge. With the OL really coming into their own lately, TN should have no problem rushing for a ton of yardage.
Prediction: Short and sweet OP this week. I've been busy, and I don't think there is too much to worry about here. As long as TN doesn't come out spooked...
