Just a few thoughts on the OU game.
I think even the most optimistic UT fans know this is gonna be a game that we'll need a few turnovers and/or big plays for it to be close for 4 qtrs.
Stoops will have his team ready and the fans will be hyped for this one. I see no way they overlook us. Any SEC team that goes on the road to play an OOC team will more than likely be the game the OOC team will be looking fwd to playing the most on their home schedule. OU will be no diff, especially with everything Stoops has said recently about the SEC.
Being a 21pt dog in Norman in a primetime game on ABC, their fans striping the stadium, talk of OU wearing alternate uni's, and them wanting to make a statement vs another SEC team that is extremely young and inexperienced tells me to take OU -21 all dang day.
On the other hand, even though half of our team will be playing their first road game, I think this game will be closer than the experts think. I think Butch and staff showed as little as possible on offense the first 2 games. It was pretty obvious to me we not only showed little of the playbook, but also took the foot off the up tempo gas pedal, which if we utilize to our full potential could give OU and a lot of other teams trouble with our weapons on offense. Remember, Baylor destroyed OU last year with the up tempo. Killed them.
Not having Von and maybe Wolfe too this week hurts, but I really think that Butch and staff will have a game plan where we throw everything we have at ruining OU's big recruiting wknd, alt uni's, striped stadium, and maybe even shocking the cfb world with an outright win. The way Butch pays attention to detail as well as how he prepares his team to face the mental challenges tells me we can hang with OU or whoever else. If our last coach was still here, I wouldn't hesitate to bet the farm on OU -21!
Will it be tough? Heck yeah, but I believe in Butch and 118. We have nothing to lose! Even if we lose, I don't think they blow us out as bad as people are expecting and we earn some well deserved national respect as a team on the rise with Butch at the helm. Team 118 won't quit like bama did in Sugar Bowl last year vs a hyped OU team. 118 is on a mission to show all of cfb we will not only be as good as we were in the past, but even better. If there's one thing you can bet on, it's we're going to Norman with every dang intention of winning.
