Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XIII

I also didn't care enough about Vandy to know their schedule.

I hear you, the reason I know is because at the beginning of the season I kept hearing that Vandy was a 7-8 win team.

I looked up the schedule trying to identify these 7-8 wins the experts claim and I saw Temple, UMASS, CHASO, and OD.

Tennessee has held its last four opponents to fewer than 20 points per game, tied for the longest active FBS streak. #TENNvsOU

The amount of Vandy hate here is amazing to me. Maybe, it's because I'm older than some of you, but to me this is just a normal Vandy season. Even with they had James Franklin at coach they never garnered any national attenion. It's like hating on a retarded person.

I have an idea to all of you that are going to Norman this weekend. You should try to rally all of the Tennessee fans in the visiting section, and when Oklahoma is facing third down, all of you start screaming "3rd down for what!!" If you can somehow organize it, where someone near the bottom of the section can give a hand count or something where you do it in unison, then that would be pretty cool. Then, start doing the hand and arm gesture. Just a thought that I had, and felt that the players would get a little feeling of being back home at critical times. Do your part!

I was 8 years old when I went to a Vandy TN game and Travis Henry was hurt. While his mother ran onto the field, I heard Vandy fans clapping and yelling rascist remarks towards his mom as her son was on a stretcher.

Then the administration let ACS play after he was involved in the rape scandal. I know boys will be boys, but that is one thing that is inexcusable even if he did not directly commit the act.

If the Taliban fielded a football team I would go for them before Vandy.

Boys can be boys, but rapists, and those who cover for them, are reprehensible. I would state that stronger if I could, but I am personally aware of the need for God's grace

Try living in Middle Tennessee the past two seasons. It's like having a cold and not breathing very well. You finally wake up one day, and it's nice to have a clear throat and lungs. Most of the time you breathe fine and don't notice, but that first day or two, it's refreshing.

For anyone going to the game. This is something fans on VQ are putting together. If you are in Norman and are a Vol be here an help us show our passion and unity! Seems like a lot of people are planning on being there!

Vol fans meet in front of the stadium at 6:00 and make a grand entrance into the stadium to prove the "One Tennessee" that Butch preaches. GBO

Hey Eric… Could you post on VQ the idea that I had a few posts above about doing the "third down for what" when OU is facing 3rd down? Would be awesome for our players to see that the whole game.

The worst part is it wasn't their fans. Heck seeing one of them is like a sasquatch sighting. The media was going all out saying they were Tennessee's team now, coach franklin is one of the best coaches in the country, vandy is a promgram to be feared now...bs like that.

ps...they've done a 180 now.

Will be watching the game here but will be locking arms with you in spirit! Go VOLS! :clapping:

I hear John Ward in my head:

Worley toss to Lane! Big block on the corner releases Lane to the outside - 45-50-45-40-35-30-25-20-he dodges one tackler and hurdles another-10-5-----GIVE HIM SIX!!!

I agree. The media was worse than the fans.

I would love to see the offensive scheme that works around the fact your line can't block. Hopefully it is something different than the scheme Vandy is using.

Hubbs response on The Zone this morning.

Oklahoma's front 7 passes the QB well and stuffs the run?

TN will have to do things schematically to help the RB's out. TN can not line it up and run it down anyone's throat at this point. Went back and looked at the Baylor and Texas games to see what happened to OK. To see how the Oklahoma defense lost that game. Texas did a nice job of keep away. Texas had a 12 minute time of possession advantage and had two turn overs. Baylor made big plays and got them on their heels and then they ran the ball. TN has got to get the ball on the perimeter. That is where they will miss Pearson because he is their best WR at catching a 5 yard hitch and making a first down. Malone, Smith and Croom have to step up. Get it out on the perimeter and make plays in space. Find a little bit of mix and try to get OK on their heels. Don't think TN will go two TE's and try to run at them.

I agree, they are going to miss Pearson, even with the bevy of weapons in the wide receiver quiver. He's looked like the most elusive player so far this year.

I expect alot of Pig and Smith short bubble screens as a form of run game. I also expect more Hurd, Lane and Young in passing game to get them in open field. I noticed we hid that last week after using it a few times in week 1. I expect it was an out of sight out if mind trick by the staff.
