6 days of no rain.... and the monsoon just hit.

I’m afraid those boys are going to be stuck in that cave. If they hadn’t made enough progress with 6 dry days, they are not going to see that relief again till October

☹️

Have they figured out any way to divert the rainwater getting in the cave? Can’t do much about groundwater, but at least cutting off the runoff can help.

From why I’ve read, it seems like the safest (though maybe the least satisfying) route may be to just keep a steady supply line going to the kids until a dryer season when it becomes feasible for the the kids to hike back out.

That article you posted the other day pointed out that training them to scuba dive out may be futile. Most divers spend hundreds of hours training for those kind of dives. Someone has already been trapped and lost trying it.

Keeping them supplied and waiting things out may be the only way to ensure as many survive as possible.

DeMarcus Cousins''' Warriors deal: Lakers turned down Boogie deal | SI.com

The Lakers turned down a chance to get DeMarcus Cousins, reports The New York Times' Marc Stein.

Cousins agreed to a one-year, $5.3 million deal with the Warriors on Monday.

According to Stein, the Lakers, "after signing Rajon Rondo away from New Orleans and then losing Randle to the Pelicans, had an opportunity to sign Cousins at a one-year price point similar to the one that landed him in Golden State. But [Stein was] told the Lakers passed, clearing the way for the Warriors to infuriate the basketball public yet again."

NBA free agency rumors: Anthony Davis didn’t want DeMarcus Cousins back with Pelicans | NBA | Sporting News

According to ESPN, Davis was the lead recruiter in bringing former Laker Julius Randle in as a free agent to effectively replace Cousins.

Will continue to pray for those boys and their coach. Will pray for all the rescue efforts as well. So much to be grateful for just in the fact that they are alive.

Do they think they are in a spot that won't flood or do they have a place to keep going into the cave if it does?

Rescuer in Thailand cave where boys trapped dies from lack of oxygen

Apparently with all the extra rescue workers in there it is draining oxygen faster than expected so they may have to just dive out. They are trying to get an oxygen and a telephone line in.

Looks like Elon Musk is trying to help now.

In a series of posts on Twitter, Elon Musk said he is sending engineers from his Boring Co and SpaceX companies to see if they can help.

Here's the picture of the damaged stadium replica. Let me know if anyone knows where a replica similar to this can be found. The damage is a bit difficult to see, but the tops of the pressbox and skyboxes suffered damage, some of the stadium lights were damaged, and the scoreboard was smashed. It's about 9 x 14, maybe, so you can imagine how small some of the detail is.
I think it cost close to $300 originally...or thereabouts.

Chuckie provided one that I'll likely act on if nothing results from this.

First time I've tried including a picture, gif, etc. Hope this turns out right!

I would sincerely like to thank those who have offered ideas, suggestions and help. Thanks, guys...

This is obviously far more important than my damaged stadium replica. Perspective, huh?

Nick...maybe you will know...but it seems to me boring or drilling to the cave might be an option. I think we're all coming to the conclusion swimming or diving has to be out of the question due to the limitations of the young boys and high water. Waiting until fall is almost unfathomable after everything that has transpired.

Is drilling/boring a practical option or is the location simply too deep within the mountainside?

Locating exactly where they are at underground from above is extremely difficult. Very difficult to access even if they could pinpoint where to drill.

There is concern that as rainy season progresses, their current chamber could also flood.

In the dry conditions, they’ve been able to drain 1.5 cm per hour.

They have attempted to divert water flow in and drain water from within. Obviously many smart people working on this... just very difficult

There is talk of bringing charges against the coach if he makes it out, which would be sad, but people love to see heads roll

For whatever reason, I kind of thought they would be able to pinpoint their location from the surface. Don't know why I assumed that...

Yes, some people would rather lay blame than solve a problem. There will be time for that, but it's wasted energy and serves no purpose at this point.

"We can no longer wait for all conditions (to be ready) because circumstances are pressuring us," Thai SEAL commander Arpakorn Yookongkaew told a news conference. "We originally thought the boys can stay safe inside the cave for quite some time, but circumstances have changed. We have limited amount of time."

Some monk blamed the Christian boy in the group for angering the spirits of the cave and causing this.

Not much to say though... Christians have blamed others for natural disasters in equal absurdity. So... the world spins on

Hate to hear that. I’d thought previously that they’d found somewhere they could stay for a very extended period of time safely.

Why can’t made up stories be specific? Have you never read a fiction book?

I saw a comedian last Friday that was really funny. His name is Dusty Slay...he's got some stuff on YouTube and his albums are on Amazon Music (and, I assume, iTunes). He had a joke very similar to what you just said. It went something like this:

You ever been talking to someone and after they tell you something they're like, "you can't make that up"?

Actually, you can. It's called lying. A whole section of the library is devoted to people who "made that up".

I fell for the Tyson hype just like everybody else my age did. Tyson destroyed a bunch of scared tomato cans that were beat before they ever stepped in the ring, and I don't buy the garbage that Tyson somehow forgot how to box becsuse Cus D'amato died..it's not rocket science.

When he finally ran into somebody that wasn't afraid of him and had some skill..he got destroyed...Buster Douglas absolutely destroyed him..."The baddest man on the planet" doesn't get destroyed by Buster "barely motivated for one fight in his life" Douglas..

Go watch the Tony Tucker fight on YT, when I watched TT give all he could handle, that was the first time I really realized he was not the greatest. If you want to understand what Ali would have done to Mike, then watch that fight.

Tony Tucker gave him all he could handle, and took everything he threw at him, and at the height of his so called prime...if you think he could beat Ali after watching that you are delusional. Tony Tucker wasn't even on the same planet skill wise as Muhammad Ali..He just wasnt scared.

Prime Ali would have decimated that little overhyped freak.

I am a huge Ali fan. Never missed him boxing when I was growing up.

My opinion of Tyson:
Cus was his General Neyland. Kept him focused and expected nothing short of Tyson’s very best.

After Cus passed away, Tyson went through the equivalent of kiffin/dooley/ butch trainers and managers: lots of flash with little substance (yes, I know that some good things happened under their watch, but nowhere near acceptable). Tyson needed a strong trainer/manager due to his background and cohort... he took the dooley/butch approach to training after Cus. It showed in his performance and all the trouble that he got into.

Would any of that have happened with Cus alive? Doubtful. Jmo :hi:

Maybe, but...

.... I think we can all agree Joey Chestnut is the Muhammad Ali of competitive eating

I heard they had to use instant replay cause they didn't realize he was eating 2 at a time and hadn't counted enough for him. Haha

😞. But they’re found, and safe, and receiving aid. And the whole world is with them in thoughts and prayers. 🙏🏻

Edit: oh no, just read about the seal that died last night and the oxygen worries. May God be with them all.

Interesting story from Ainge about LSU stealing signals in the 2007 SEC Championship Game.

He said they had success with a certain call 3 times. They went to it a 4th time, but Ainge did not change the signal. LSU picked it up and quickly circulated it amongst the secondary. The DB backed off heavy to bait Ainge into the throw and broke hard in the ball, knowing what was coming.

Pick 6. LSU takes the lead in the 4th quarter, Tennessee loses.

Had that not happened... all else being equal...

Tennessee wins the SEC Championship
No way Fulmer is fired next season.
Kiffin never is hired... or bolts...
Which leads to no Dooley...

All from not changing a signal play call signal. Amazing

The great risk for bringing them out is panic. Divers with no experience can experience panic attacks when they first start training, even in a safe tank. Asking 11-16 year old boys, some of who may not even know how to swim, to use scuba gear to come out of that cave is an extremely dangerous proposition. One article said it is a 5-hr trip, and that is likely the time clocked by the veteran divers. Trying to lead 12 inexperienced and terrified teenagers out might even double, or triple, the time it takes.

As we all know, panic attacks can affect your breathing, which is very dangerous at depth, as you have to fight the natural urge to swim straight up to the surface, which if you are at any sort of depth risks the bends; but in a submerged cave in the dark, I can't even imagine. I am sure they are likely allowing the boys to practice in the chamber they are in, and hopefully there are shallow waters in there so they can get a sense of being underwater in the dark, and get very familiar with the equipment that will be their life support system in the way out. But if they decide to bring them out that way, it will be a daunting task for those veteran divers to keep those kids calm during that exfil.

Elon Musk floats plan to get trapped boys out of flooded Thailand cave

He also outlined an idea for a rescue operation, using pumps, battery packs and tubes.

He suggested inserting a one metre diameter nylon tube through the cave network and inflating it with air "like a bouncy castle". He said that this should create an air tunnel underwater against the cave roof, allowing people to walk through it and duck through the narrow sections.

As long as the air feed rate exceeds the leak rate, the tube will remain inflated, he said. Musk claimed that this would very little power compared to pumping out water faster than it enters the cave system.

Sounds like it's time to start praying for those boys to have calm nerves on their way out
