I’ve been in Memphis for 15 years. Lived in MidTown, in Central Gardens for 10 years - it’s beautiful, and quite safe.

Gotta love the “logic” that says - Memphis can’t be ‘good’ because it has good neighborhoods, but it can be ‘bad’ because it has bad neighborhoods. Derp.

In 2024, 94 of the 242 murders occurred in 3 zip codes. That is 39%. Memphis has 31 standard zip codes and 16 unique zip codes. That doesn't include the suburbs.

I believe in 2020 and 2021 combined, roughly 73% of the murders occurred in 10 zip codes. Less than 1/3 of the standard zip codes. As always, there are good parts and bad parts to every city.
