Never forget...
Pictured: Lt. Colonel, Andrew Tanner/USAF he was shot down around Christmas while dogfighting five Migs. He is credited with four confirmed aerial kills until the fifth one shot him down, Lt Col Tanner avoided capture and assisted a local guerrilla group and was later killed in action with the guerrillas. Very few remember this hero. Today we celebrate the life of Lt. Colonel Andrew Tanner...

Then went on to play a seminal role in the movie Tombstone.

I was going to do a Boston pork butt, but changed my mind and now I am breaking in the new Pit Boss with ribeyes and sirloins. We will have baked potatoes, salad, seasoned green beans and blackberry cobbler. I will also get together our breakfast casserole tonight and get everyone up early to enjoy that tradition with me. Going to be a good day.
Excellent choices. Reverse sear Ribeye is one of my favorite cooks.

Today I fired up the Kamado Joe.

Put on some Cornish Game Hens for the first time.

Tasted great but next time I’ll crank the heat at the end for a super crispy skin. It’s a learning process.

I want one of those so bad. Keep having to put off purchasing one due to stuff constantly coming up that require any excess funds I have. One of these days though….Soon.

They look really good though!
Thanks, they did taste great. Just the Kroger Simple Truth frozen birds. The Kamado does such a good job.

I have just the basic Classic 1 which is plenty for most families. Walmart had a recent sale that put it under $500 so hang in there you’ll get one for a deal eventually.

There was a great deal I almost bit on. A free Joe Jr. with purchase of a Classic 2 or later.

Merry Christmas friends.

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn. And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.

Now, all that said, I will argue with anyone that Tennessee is one of the most underrated beautiful states in the country. Everyone know Nashville and Memphis, but hardly anyone outside of here realize the natural beauty we have and I’m ok if it stays that way.
We have the most visited NP in the nation. They know. I wish they didn't.

Merry Christmas everyone, it's been super stressful, my father, mother and their adopted daughter, my sister who is one year older than my daughter, are living with us for a couple of months until their house is finished.

We are missing a couple of family members this year. It just makes you appreciate what and who you have all the more. The farm and rescue is always a lot of work, even more stressful than normal but it has its rewards.

Merry Christmas to all of you from my farm and family! IMG_20210427_190835740.jpg
