Barnes probably saw this coming, maybe why he almost skated outta here
The way he handled the UCLA fiasco pissed a few off within the AD. Phil went to bat for Rick and his staff to get them the money they wanted. He better get it together or he’ll be in some hot water going into next season IMO.

Really sad news
A twin engined private airplane reported to be carrying six people crashed just before 9:30 Saturday morning in Lafayette. Lafayette Fire Chief Robert Benoit says five deaths have been confirmed at the scene. The daughter-in law of LSU Offensive Coordinator Steve Ensminger is one of those dead.

This year will be rough but I see this like Grants freshman year. That team was awful but young and talented. Next year and years after we will be stout. We are playing so many freshman this year then we will have all of the back. Vescovi, Gaines, Pember, James, Walker, Keon, Springer, Nkamhoua all for at least 3 years plus whoever else we add. We lost too much to the NBA. We are just fine going forward but this year will be rough.

I thought Joe Brady was their oc?

He should be under pressure with the way he handled the UCLA deal along with the money he’s knocking down. These are the players he’s brought in here that don’t appear to be very good collectively. That’s on him.

No, he shouldn't be. And he got hurt this season by losing 2 juniors (who were both unheralded recruits) to the NBA draft and having 2 big men transfer out. Even if they couldn't provide much offensively we could have used those guys size in the post. And now he loses Lamonte, who may not have been providing much offense, but was 11th in the nation in assists. And then didn't get Plavsc eligible.

UT is not to the point where it can lose 4 starters to the NBA draft, lose 2 big men to transfer, and then lose its starting PG, and not struggle.

But there is some reason for optimism if Vescovi is eligible to play starting Jan.11, which gives Barnes a legit PG with international experience.
