They were good despite a limited offense. No reason they couldn't do that again this season. Good defense/Good run game. The formula isn't changing.

I have no idea what Aguilar is going to do, but people underestimate him in that he will hang in the pocket and sling that mf with a defender in his face. Nico couldn't do that last year.

Ironically, many Vols fans would agree with those observations--and quite happily!

I find great confidence in our team based upon these observations. When a combination of talking heads and talking butts align, I like our chances of overachieving to expectations.

I’d like to say on behalf of my man the great Plato that after having been mocked throughout modernity for “not having known what every schoolchild knows today” (that Egyptian hieroglyphics were pictograms), Champollion's breakthroughs in understanding the phonetic content proved that Plato had been correct all along.

Also if your ever get the chance to go to London, the British Museum is an absolute marvel.

Yeah I think some of these pundits overrate what we lost on defense. Still have the same staff, seven starters, plus guys that played a lot. From the 7th ranked defense in the country.

We don't know exactly what Aguilar will look like here, but the tape doesn't lie and he has been playing QB at a higher level than Nico since at least 2023.

These pundits don't consider how likely it is that 5th year senior Aguilar will be better than what Nico was last year. They just assume Nico would be a lot better, but underrate how huge of a difference it could make if Aguilar can just make simple reads and hit wide open ones. Turnovers are a big concern with him though.

I honestly think this will be a good to great year, 10 wins minimum. I can see our offense going back to the more traditional spread we saw in the beginning of Heup's tenure.

We had the team last year but Nico had to see the receiver open before throwing. We gone be fine.

My point is just that last yr at this time the media had him at the bottom of the list in the sec. Now they love him. Same thing happening with Joey as Pavia last summer. The media has no idea ab the guy. They are too busy telling you Lagway and his 50% completion percentage is the best player in the country. It will be fun watching him prove them wrong. I believe the defense this year will be as good, if not potentially better than last year’s team. Pearce was a factor, but the defensive line rotation is stacked and Rodney gets the best out of his unit.

Losing Sampson was the biggest loss, not Nico. If Bishop and Lewis can continue improving, the run game hopefully doesn’t take a step back.

What I like about Aguilar is his ability to move the pocket and is an accurate deep ball thrower and isn’t afraid to take hits, unlike Nico. His decision making isn’t the best, but I believe in Heupel to create easy throws for him like he did for Hooker. I hope the offense gets back to the “basics” and goes back to up tempo more this season.
