Wish away. Setting "must get" as a standard is a straw man that can only hurt us.

And Nico was the best QB in a generation, while McCoy was a low 3*. How'd that work out?

Exactly, portal has changed everything.

Doesn’t mean you don’t want the best HS players but 1) how can anyone be confident how long they’ll be on campus and 2) you can fill needs through the portal with a proven commodity (even if they were a lower ranked player coming out of HS)

This is pretty telling. Also:

1) DeBoer inflated his against PAC 12 teams
2) Heupel took over a dumpster fire with an NCAA cloud and a depleted roster. Kirby, DeBoer, and Kelly inherited rosters full of talent. So that makes Heupel’s place among them even more impressive.
The stat was against top 25 teams----not conference games.

what is the rb situation if not Hiter? I don’t understand why we don’t have RBs lined up to sign up with the yards put up, tds scored, opportunity for big runs, ypc and last 2 RBs in the nfl. I know it’s not an nfl offense but we just put 2 there and why not go rack up some stats in Neyland.

This is not how recruiting works anymore. How good a recruiter a coach is is much less relevant as it typically comes down to $ now and you have even more figures playing big roles in recruiting these days especially at programs like Tennessee which has a massive recruiting apparatus they invest heavily into. There are many off-field guys doing heavy lifting in recruiting at Tennessee.

9 times out of 10 it is going to come down to $. Hometown discounts aren't really a thing.
Needledick was hailed as a great recruiter under Pruitt. Turns out, he just had a big ole bag of money

We were in CO last week, ranch we stayed at had somehow miraculously avoided a 100,000 acre fire in 2021. It sits in a gulch and therefore didnt burn. Owners had removed all dead trees from periphery of property.

Then the flash floods came...

Crazy. Hope you're safe sir.
Was also in CO last week. There’s so many dead pine trees that the next fire there will be very bad IMO. The west side of the continental divide in the Rocky Mountain National Park was devastated with dead trees. According to what I read, the pine beetle is wrecking havoc.

QB isnt same as WR.

This WR is just that good, from what ive seen.

Before we moved to Deming, we owned 10 acres, heavily wooded, just north of Ruidoso. In 2013 the Little Bear Fire swept through our area, destroying five of our neighbors' homes. Fortunately for us, we had started lifting branches (cutting off any branches below 6 ft.) as soon as we moved in. Despite being in the middle of the fire, it came through our property as a grass fire, leaving our house and most of our trees untouched. (The fire couldn't get into the canopy and jump from tree to tree.) Mrs. Antrim and I, with 2 dogs and 2 cats, safely evacuated for a week.

I suppose it was one of the reasons we sold our property there and moved to Deming. Thanks for your concern!

it is, it's awful. but it's life out west. certain trees don't actually seed until they reach certain temperature only achieved via forest fire.

Browsing top 10 list again for 247 Recruiting Classes (2026) and two thiings stand out to me. USC at #1? They haven't been relevant for a while. And, Clemson still recruiting in the top 10? I really thought our 'reemergence' would damage the more.

now that is one of the issues I have with modern upper bourgeois society. Have's, have nots. Buddy buddy dynamics, a tail as old as thyme. Deals made on the green versus merits of body of work.

Spoken like a true introvert.
As someone who has made lots of deals during a round of golf, I can tell you emphatically, deals are not made on greens---that's a no-no during your round. The deals are made after the tee shots and before the putts are made. Rookie mistake Jack :) :) :)

Out at a job site by Choto Marina this morning around 7.30a. I walked around the back of the property to look at some forms and heard something in the woods. Of course I had to investigate. . . I thought it was someone screwing around, taking a whiz or something. I figured I'd try to scare them half to death. I got about 3ft from the tree line and a couple little does bounced out of there like a cannon. Scared the b'jeezus out of me.

I started walking back to the house and heard something again. I turned around and that's when I saw da 30 point buck. It was the King Kong of deer. It stopped and stared at me for a second, then I nodded at it and it nodded back and took off. I left my phone in the truck or I would've got a picture.

It was camouflaged pretty well in there. I must've been standing within 10-15' of it and never saw it til I walked away. Pretty lucky it didn't mangle me for being stupid and creeping up on it.

Dozens of 3rd-party deals submitted to the NIL clearinghouse remain under review as college leaders negotiate with attorneys over circumvention rules. These negotiations may determine how the new College Sports Commission rules on the flagged NIL deals.

It was never going to work.

Lawsuits incoming….

Amateurism in the sport is dead. High time to accept that and move on. Form a professional league with a set of rules on financials. Teams still affiliated with schools and athletes must still be enrolled. Define transfer rules and salary caps, etc. Contracts that restrict movement and enforce buyouts. Rules/fines that significantly punish cheaters. Defined 5 years to play 4. A developmental league for the NFL.

Heck, even consider the concept of having schools affiliated with NFL teams down the line.

My brother had a mountain home there for over 30 years. When he retired 3 years ago he gutted the house and rebuilt to use in his retirement. He lost the home in last years fires. He ended up moving to Santa Fe.

Great state lived there as a kid. Visit often and if there was water we would live there with about 5 million other newcomers.
