I haven't seen this discussed but I think it raises an interesting question.

We all know how important the HC is in recruiting players. That could also be said about assistant coaches. A top current coordinator that wants to be a HC wouldn't take another coordinator job with just anyone. Having a Gruden (can you imagine Cowher?) ask you to come aboard would carry a lot more clout than a Leach or Kiffen would. If you have the chance to learn from those that have already been there, it would have to be a plus for any candidate. Of course, if your HC also calls the plays that could be a negative.

What say you?

Not sure there's much "recruiting" involved. Just about any coach we look at is going to have a core group of coaches that will follow them.

Would that apply to a pro coach as well? It's seems hard enough to get him away from the NFL much less the assistants too.

New coach will have his following but somone will have to stay to protect your recruiting class

Gruden is his own OC and wouldn't be hiring one but at least he would hire a special teams coach for crying out loud.
