With this recruiting class i believe UT will be a force to be wreckoned with. This class could get crazy HUGE, say we were to land Austin and Dunlap, which i believe we have a legit shot at. This would give us six 5*'s and nine 4*'s that would make this class one of the most stacked classes ever. Im real excited to see one of these classes again, because as of late i havent been to thrilled with the past class or two. I just want a top class to put us on the map again, i hate to admit it but we need these playmakers. I hear people say stars don't matter, and that is only true sometimes. I look at the recent powerhouses (USC & TX), i i notice they have a MAJOR thing in common they recruit STACKED top-talent players. I had doughts about UT ftball future, but after this HUGE class it makes the future seem alot brighter....Anyone have any late recruit info plz share......GO VOLS

So the concensus top three class we had in 2005 doesn't fit that bill? This is something I'm confused about. I've heard others on hear talk as if we didn't land a top three class year that year. Again, recruiting is not the issue at UT.

You are thinking of the 04 class.

Coaching has some to do with it, but im saying if we want to run with USC, TX, OSU etc. we are gonna have to get more classes like this more frequent. Recruiting has been a problem the past 2 classes we had like 4 key prospects not qualify for us.

UT hasn't had the depth that this class has.

The thing probably to be most excited about is the defensive potential in this class. If Austin and/or Dunlap commit along with Brimfield, the Vols will have the makings of one of the best defensive fronts college football has ever seen. There are two outstanding LB's in there. UT could probably use another standout DB to go with Berry but Berry stood out in the AA game. He was everywhere and they didn't throw to his man once.

I agree that this class has major depth especially on the D. The only thing I think we are going to lack is more O liners.

don i don't think we can compete on that level for awhile. we don't have the coaching.

UT has a bunch of young OL's now. They have 7 guys who were 4* recruits: McNeil, Young, McClendon, Myers, Johnson, Scott, and Jones. This group is rounded out with Parker, Richard, Frogg, maybe Dan Williams, etc.

They have enough talent to build one of the SEC's most dominant lines.

(Does anyone know what happened to Jones?)

Really? Cutcliffe can't coach? Chavis can't coach? I know your hatred of Fulmer blinds you but exactly what beef do you have with these other guys who are proven performers in every respect?

Your undying confidence that we will land Austin is a source of daily amusement for me :). I hope you're right, though .... I just can't believe it.
