I was curious as to the ratings of the players taken coming out of High School/Junior College, so I looked it up and broke it down. All rating are according to rivals.

5 stars- 4
4 stars- 13
3 stars- 11
2 stars- 2
NR- 2

What are your guys thoughts? Are computer ratings or coaches evaluations better? Or is it a combination....?

Again, as its been discussed 1 million times highly rated D-lineman have a huge upside coming to college, but WR/TE and O-lineman make it to NFL as 2stars, 3stars, 4stars, and 5stars. Most DB, LBs, and D-lineman are 4-5 star players.

Interesting stat. But remember while there are roughly 30 five star recruits, there are hundreds of three star recruits. From
a broad spectrum overall quantity of hundreds triumphs 30 or some people. But from a team standpoint you are not going to be able to get 300 3 star players on your team so quality of recruits matter more obviously.

Thats a good chunk, percentage wise, of 5 star talent that went in the first round. Using 2009s rivals top 250 as a guide, there were 33 5* players. That means that 12% of 5* players were drafted in the first round. I couldn't find the exact amount of 4* players, but the remaining rivals top250 (217 players) were all 4*. Therefore, 6% of 4* players were drafted in the first round, and that number could be even lower if there are more outside the top250. As for the 3* percentage...I have no clue. Its much less than 6%. So basically all that to say that, on average, the 5* players have a much higher chance (double in this case) of becoming elite college football players.
