Lots of threads I know. But lots of conjecture about Coach Phil undermining Currie too.

Fulmer went on record to Rece Davis today and categorically denied the allegations. He went further on what contact he did have which was at the request of Currie.

The sabotage dialog is a false narrative. And I really hope to see something similar from Manning but we will know in time.

The article bellow references the interview.

Phillip Fulmer speaks on reports he sabotaged coach search

Every time he is mentioned on ESPCN they call him:

"The Vile Criminal Fulmer who Undermined Poor Currie and maybe tried to Murder Him, and may have colluded with Nazis during WWII!!"
:banghead2:

ESPN BASTARDS!!! :neener2:

Why do you have a personal vendetta against Fulmer?

Actually back in the day with the whole Majors thing it’s a common dialog that splits the UT family. My father was solidly on Majors side. I actually believe theres some truth really to it also.

But I also believe Fulmer is a Tennessee Man to his core. Both narratives can exist. Every family has its skeleton closet

It was very much a generational thing. Younger fans believed the game had passed Johnny and he was not going to adapt. The old folks thought differently, I guess.

I was young then.

I believe he may have undermined Currie. I further believe that if so, it was at the request of a higher up. Remember, he worked directly with DiPietro.

I imagine convo went like this.

Phil this guy doesn’t know what he is doing. It’s obvious. You should have gotten.

Hey I would have loved to had it

Phil if we get him out will you take it

Well yeah I will never leave it hanging

Now how many of us would say well no?

But Currie and Haslam are anonymously saying he did do it, so if course he did, right?

Honestly, do not care if did or didn't. The end result is complete success. An incompetent person is replaced with a competent person whom Tennessee supporters know and have sincere faith in.

We're moving on without interest in the words from a fired AD and a supporter who doesn't support.

How exactly would PF go about sabotaging a coaching search? Follow jc around calling all the coaches jc offers the job to and telling them not to come? I'm not buying this trash. JC offered doren and schiano the job before miles and Sumlin...he hung himself

So, according to ESPN we shouldn't believe Fulmer, but should believe Schiano. Got it.

If he did undermine Currie, wasn't that a good thing? Or did you all want Schiano?

Currie was a bad hire to begin with. He was picked over Fulmer. You really think he gave Fulmer serious input into Schiano?

I'll go with the tin hat crowd this far and no more...

Currie: Hey Phil, Jimmy and I are going after Schiano Will announce in a few hours. We wanted to give you a chance to protest if you think it's a bad move.

Phil: Uh, no, he'll do great. I am sure he will work like heck to make Tennessee great again. (turns away, sneers, says "yes!" to camera and pumps fist).

:eek:lol:

In other words,it may have been a passive undermining of just allowing Currie to hang himself.

But anyone who thinks Currie or Haslem gave Phil any serious input prior to last Sunday needs to have thier head examined. There is simply no way.
