Recalling many posts last week constant drumbeat of UGA having wealth of talent over …

Yep coaching… went 0-2 on the two most important plays of the game… 4th and 6 and the two point conversion when we could of taken a timeout to rest our defense and set things up to ensure we didn’t leave our true freshman on an island
We were in position to win with a very makeable field goal. Because our kicker missed it there’s a talent gap at coaching. Had he made it would you say Kirby was the lesser coach. After all he would be the defensive guru who couldn’t stop us on 3rd and 8. Players make plays not coaches.

Actually how many 4th downs did Georgia convert?and let’s not forget the 4th and 2 hype didn’t go for when he had a chance to break the will of Georgia …. Or what was the 3rd down conversion rates for both teams?

UGA was 2-2 on 4th and 8-17 on 3rd.

We were 5-12 on 3rd.
To me, that is where the small talent gap that does exist manifested itself. They had the talent to do what they wanted at will in the pressure points against our talent.

Some of that is experience, but on the two 4th down conversions, our guys were just flat left behind.

over the Vols. After yesterday’s game what say you that saw the game yesterday? Did you see a large or very large talent gap that UGA has over us?

Me personally? I did not see a talent gap at all. Lots of really good players and playmakers all over the field by both teams on both sides of the ball.
Their o line and LBs are better. Their Rbs are best in the nation.

They have 73 blue chip players from what I saw. First team is probably similarly talented. But if you get injuries, the backups are different level experience or talent. For example having to start a freshman backup cb with little experience probably cost UT 7 to 14 points.

Biggest gap is between Kirby and Heupel in regards to in game decisions

It did not help either that GA outscored us 31 to 17 after the first quarter.

I think Georgia's defense is better talent wise than our defense.

I think our offensive talent is equal to theirs.

The thing is Heupel's scheme is able to offset the talent difference of our offense facing their defense. On the other hand our defense was missing DLineman and two of our top 2 CBs. Otherwise, or we do a better job in facing their offense.

Georgia has more talent, by a lot. Just because we could have beat them, doesn't mean we have caught them with talent. Here are the last 4 recruiting class comparisons which does not include players picked up via the portal. Which UGA has several highly rated players via that way. and before anyone says there is not that much difference between # 2 and # 11, there is. UGA had 15 five stars out there yesterday, I think Tennessee had 3 or 4 depending on service.

Last 4 recruiting class comparisons:

2025 UGA # 2, Tenn # 11
2024 UGA # 1 Tenn # 13
2023 UGA # 2 Tenn # 12
2022 UGA # 3 Tenn # 15

Meh. They had 1 drive where they seemed to impose their will and we shut down the run after that. Look forward to playing them again with Hobbs and Moi

The comparison issue I saw was one that was more about discipline, execution, and fundamentals. Georgia is a more well coached team.

They had no false starts. We had how many and we were the freaking home team?? I mean that was a huge factor on that kick. It wasn’t just a five hard penalty. The play call was JA up the middle for kick positioning but he would have gotten at least three more yards. Would eight yards have made a difference? As a result that FG attempt went from an easy distance (moderate in that moment) to an attempt that was moderate distance (but difficult in that particular moment). I imagine Gilbert is much more confident and comfortable at 35 yards than he is at 43 - especially for his first ever game winning attempt in what was basically a top 10 matchup.

I also saw a team that tackled better. Maybe this is a talent issue but how many times did UGA get an extra 2-4 yards after initial contact and required more than one defender vs our backs that consistently got tackled by one defender and rarely got yac?

And I watched their blocking scheme a lot and they were just so much more refined at executing their blocks. Turning a defender inside when it need to be inside or their WR’s locking up our DBs on screens with superb blocking. Pretty much across the board Georgia executed one on one matchups better than we did on a majority of plays. But it seemed more about coaching and fundamentals than talent. That’s what I saw FWIW.

The coaches literally did the opposite of that on multiple occasions. Chris Brazzell put us in a position to win, the coaches did everything they could to lose the game.
And the coaches.... coached Brazzell up to the level of play that he put on the field yesterday. Remember how all offseason you talked about our WRs not developing? And Heupel showed that he figured out how to attack Kirby's defense. After this year, we're literally going to be in conversations with the best of the best. I don't know how you don't see it. I think you just don't like Heupel for some reason. I can't imagine being this ungrateful for a coach that took over a 3 win team that lost the 38 best players to the portal and turned them into a 10 win average team. Things are turning around in so many ways.

If we had TEN 5-star players on our defense like Georgia has , we don't give up 41 to that offense. Heupel was scheming guys open all game. Y'all need to give credit to our coaches more.
Heupel has been blasted for not having any success against Kirby. He puts up 38 and 500 yards in regulation, and hes being blasted for not doing enough, someone even says "worst coaching in a big game in his time here". We have to be the most miserable fanbase.
