Realistically Optimistic Season

I'd like to see us have a back that can break a long one against Bama or anothe prime program. Or, a WR that has the wheels to out run the secondary of said schools.

Like Malone did against Florida, last year. Too bad, he went to the NFL. Hopefully, L. Williams, T. Byrd or M. Callaway can be that guy, at WR. At RB, maybe Jelly can do that, I am not sure, yet. But, I do think our OL will open some big holes, so he should have some chances. I have a feeling, Ty Chandler can be that RB or that may just be wishful thinking

Most of the guys you listed have either been inconsistent due to injuries or are unproven. I won't even argue with you on your NFL assessments. That's your opinion. As far as recruiting rank though, in 2016 and 2017, according to Rivals we were 15th both years. We had a good year in 2015, with the 5th best class. In 2014 we were 5th and signed 31 players. Over half of whom are no longer with the team, so I'm not sure what our final ranking would be. Our 4-year average is not top 5-10. Bama, GA, and LSU, however, had top 10 rankings all four years.

You misunderstood me. I didn't say we averaged a top 10 recruiting class the last 4 years. But rather we were among the top 10 teams nationally when it came to average recruiting rank the last 4 years.

UT is still a legit program on the national scene. Nationally televised games every year vs Florida....Alabama....and Georgia on a major network...with all the others being on national cable at worse. Even the "patsy" games end up on SEC Network. They wouldn't do that if ratings weren't strong. And ratings wouldn't be strong if Volnation weren't strong. We have the facilities....the fan base, the boosters..and basically EVERYTHING needed to create a winning program. Not 9-4 type winning program...but 11-1 winning program. Then we go middle of the road with HC due to money...when it may be THE MOST IMPORTANT factor determining our success or failure...or "middle of the road-ness". Ask Alabama if it was money well spent bringing Saban on. I don't hate Butch Jones....(when he gives away football games I do but I digress)...but is he that top echelon coach to bring us an SEC title? If not....then get rid of him IF you are serious. With all the money spent on facilities...budgets...and everything else to be top notch....why scimp on the MOST IMPORTANT factor?

If Butch is THE GUY to compete with the Sabans of the world....then he's gotta start showing it...and fast.

Dude had second most carries all-time of all Tennessee RB's. He should have alot of yards. Do that with Kelly and he'll have more yards. Even as bad as Houston and Riggs were they would have large yardage!

And more than half of those were behind one of the worst OLs I've ever seen at UT. With either a young Dobbs or a Worley at QB.

My honest opinion is I have no idea what to expect from this team. There are a lot of unknowns, and we could be in real trouble if certain key players sustain injuries because of lack of depth. I think our bottom is 7-5 and the ceiling is 10-2 with the greatest likelihood being either 8-4 or 9-3. My gut is leaning towards 9-3, but I can't provide a convincing argument for that.

We will win 7 or 8 games the GT game could go either way we are a average football program the days of begin elite are gone we accept average here now when if you win 8 games your job is safe.:thud:

Bama is ready when you are. Or I am sure I have some old jeans that I could make you some shorts out of.

Because the 247 composite is garbage. It makes no sense, 3 sites had our 2015th class ranked 15th or better, including 247 non-composite rankings which had us at 11th and the 247 composite had us finishing at 17. How does that add up?

So that means we are working on our 2,018th recruiting class? We been playing ball a long-time.

Yea, I screwed that all up and I am not even drinking. But the point is-the 247 composite didn't make any sense to me for the 2017 recruiting class.

That moment when UGA was top 8 4 straight years...but hasnt beaten UT in two years...

Dont forget we set the record with 4 straight CBS games, and we almost always have a gameday... (typically only 12-13 a year....)

I guess I did misunderstand. I thought you originally said based off of recruiting the last four years, UT should be a top 5-10 football team on the field. Could they? Sure. Should they? No.

Most of us have seen Jumper enough in live action to know he's not an every down SEC lb. Get off your high horse.

I am thankful for Jumper. He was more than serviceable and made some clutch plays against Florida.

HOWEVER, I watched every snap he played and saw him live. I do not know more than coaches, nor do I claim to on any occasion. I have seen the on field results, not all of his mistakes are recorded on his stat sheet. He got stuck on some blocks quite a few times and missed making a play.

I'm no coach but I do have eyes. So yes, he can play and will get some snaps. No, he is not better than Kirkland. No, he should not start.

Dude is definitely on his high horse.
