Goal 1 Win the games tennessee is suppose to win. goal 2 win the toss up games goal 3 Compete with Ala and uga.

Games We should win!
1) Pitt - Pitt has a lot coming back from a very good year and winning the ACC. Tennessee should have beat them last year. They did lose a great QB but also replaced him with a previous Highly rated QB. Lost their best WR but will have a great Def. Front. Playing at pitt it will def be a big challange. I would like to say tennessee beats them 45 - 28 but i see it being a close game that hopefully we can be on the right side this time.

2)South car. - South carolina should be a team that is much improved from last year just by adding rattler... hate on him or not he put great numbers when he played and is 100% better than anything they had at QB last year.... they like pitt should also have a solid defensive front based on who they return. tennessee should beat South carolina always though... Beamer Has got alot of help from oklahomas troubles and could have some good momentum this year. We need to curb that and slow their progression underhim with another big win.42 - 27

3) KY - Tennessee shouldnt lose to kentucky ever. Mark stoops has improved the cats alot of the years and they continue to trend in the correct way. Yes hes benefieted greatly from weak schdueles and playing the last places teams in the west over and over. But.. Hes recruited good for there and they probably out played us last year and a facemask could've changed the outcome the same way tennessee had bad breaks against pitt, ole miss, purdue etc. Ithe think ky takes a step back this year but still will be a solid team. 35 - 20
Note: all three of these games could be very close.... Our defense has to improve from last year or we could potential lose all 3 of these should win games. We should have more talent than all 3 of these teams and should win though.

Toss ups
Florida - A lot of people are taking shots at florida why they are down and i love to see it. But the fact is they still have a ton of talent on their roster and will always be dangerous. Maybe we can get over UF hump and get a huge win in neyland. 28 - 24 ...would rather us blow out everyone and hope we do but i dont see florida being bad.

LSU - Could brain kelly be a worse fit at lsu....so many cringe worthy moments... ND recruiting is thriving with out him. Still LSU is filled with talent and will be very dangerous if he gets them to buy in... Hes won a lot of games and despite being whatever he is trying to be he knows football. Very tough game here for the vols on the road in a hostile stadium. Our offense is very hard to play against but none of these teams are to proud to fake injuries and im afraid it happens alot more this year considering they havent done anything to stop it...regardless hopefully our offense is strong enough with a great leader at QB to lead us to wins over all these teams . vols 33 - 27

Please compete for 4 quaters

UGA and BAMA
The way Nick and Kirby recruit make it a difficult thing to do... A and M last year was a class that will also be a problem for 2023. This is where you have to have great development to help curb the strength and speed advantage they will have.... Hopefully the vols can keep these two close and have a chance to make an upset if they make some mistakes. Alabama made some last year but in the end it didnt matter... we have to be good enough to win the game when they play bad and keep it close if they are on their game.

I think Tennessee has an offense that could win every game this year... and i hope our defense can improve a lot. I hope we can get off the field on 3rd down and force turnovers. Thats my personally goal that i have zero control over for our defense..Force turnovers and get off the field on 3rd down!

I got back in fourth in my head on a prediction for this year and its a tough year to predict because the east is really tight 2-5.... We have a tough west games with LSU and bama I will be optimistic and say vols go 10 -2... UGA bama.... THe LSU game will be huge for our momentum if we can come out of death valley with a win.

I really think the Pitt game is going to set the tone for the season. Win that game and then Florida and we should be on a roll, but I agree with the original poster.

I thought that we should have beaten them last year and I don't think that they are as good this year.

If Hendon played that game for 4 quarters we would have won it.

I agree that we aren't likely to lose any of the 5 games you don't single out (Mizz, Vandy, and 3 cupcakes) and we aren't likely to win Bama or UGA.

The remainder I think are games that have a reasonable chance of going either way (LSU, Florida, Pitt, KY and S.Carolina). If we go 3-2 in that group of 5, it will be a good season, anything better will be a great season.

I don' t think people talk enough about the importance of the LSU game...

You have one program who for the better half of two decades has been poverty stricken and now has an opportunity to win a game that in years past they would have never had a chance. It is a chance to show the program is turning around.

On the other hand, you have a program that has won 3 national championships and maintained success over the last two decades. However, are on a steep decline and hired their 5th option of head coach.

Will be a trend setting game for both teams. With the talent difference between the two programs, if we want to look at Tennessee as a national player then they in their up-swing have to be able to beat a team like LSU on a down-swing. Because if not now, when ever?

I'm hoping for 10-2 with losses to Georgia and Pitt (there's always that one game you feel like you should have won). So big win against Florida and a one for the ages win against Bama. That's what I'm hoping for.

If you dont think Pitt and South Carolina are toss ups, youre underestimating them and overestimating us.
Def South carolina should be much improved from last year.... not sure how their OLINE is and may be trouble for them.... Pitts gonna be good Period, If we both play good we can beat them both by double digits but margin of error is low in those games.

Pitt maybe. Because of how good their offensive line and defensive line. Its just their skill positions are not close to ours with their OC, Pickett, Addison, Jared Wayne and Lucas Krull all gone. We bring back more continuity, a better QB and more talent overall.

South Carolina is not a toss up. It's 60/40 at best

We were up 38-7 at halftime. Why should we expect their improvement to be so drastic that it's a 50-50 game. I don't think we will blow them out or anything, but you're maybe overestimating them.

Both are firmly should win games. Losing either of those games would not be okay.

Def Agree with that.... Theres a possibility we are over selling Us this year based on His success last year... We shouldve beat ole miss pitt and purdue last year ..... But on the other side we had so many transfers of what wouldve been are upper classmen this year....I think heupel has done a good job with band aiding the wholes we lost which is all he could do with the situation he was given... if we win those games last year.... the ole miss purdue and pitt games ...has some big plays missed against florida as well ...but win those maybe we get zach evans.... the linebacker from bama to ark and a few more players.... but we didnt get those guys so we still have holes but if we can build on last year it could be a big year...

Realistic expectations- win the games we are favored in. I believe that includes Florida. We are in year 2 of the Heupel system with an experienced QB so if there is ever going to be a time when we have an advantage on them this is it. I feel 9-3 is “realistic”. Not going to beat Bama or UGA just too much of a talent gap right now. Tough task going to LSU and getting out of there with a W. We should be more talented than the rest of the teams on the schedule so hopefully we won’t be hit too hard by injury.
Goals- Improve every week. Develop depth especially at thin/young positions(LB,RB). Stay in the game against Bama and UGA. Play in a New Years six game

I think honestly it all comes down to beating Florida this season. Still need to win the games you should. Just seems we’re mentally further along as fans possibly than we should be. It just seems Heupel has accomplished more in “year zero” than anyone else and we’ve just had a lot better culture around the program. We still have to prove things on the field though.

I think we will end season @ 8-4. UGA and Bama are losses. Vegas is usually spot on and have the over-under at 7.5, I think.

The odds are against TN running the table against Pitt, FL, USCjr, LSU and KY.

KY has more talent than I realized while LSU has a caliber defense. Who knows about FL except they have our number while Pitt has an elite front 7 with a QB that may give us fits.

I’m hopeful for 10-2 as every August I tell myself “this is the yr” where TN turns the table.
I would’ve taken most bets back in the day if someone told me 2007 would be the last time TN represented the East. It’s hare to believe it’s been almost 15 years.
Go Vols!

Yea, Pitt is probably the 3rd best team we play and we play at their house in September. I think too many Vol fans are underestimating them - they return a strong core and picked up a 4 star transfer QB and few other key players. They will be good and it will be a great test. Their D stuffed our running game last year.

Agee on South Carolina - they won’t be playing a graduate assistant at QB this year. They also picked up some other key offensive players. We’ll see what that means when they play Georgia in September. But they could be battling to finish in the top half of the East.

Can’t predict injuries we might have or injuries other teams might have. Based on no injuries to the 2 deep for us or our opponents, we should finish 9-3 and possibly 10-2
We were in every game last year. Our depth and injuries at RB, OL, and LBer were devastating with our depth. In almost every game we lost, we gave up multiple 3rd and long (sometimes really long). I expect to be in every game this year regardless of the opponent.
I truly believe we have the coaches to greatly reduce the 3rd and long conversions. Our depth on the OL should help as last year multiple starters missed multiple games or played less than 100% (losing Cooper at center was vicious). We played 200# guys at LBer. Getting beat up is part of the game but missing what few starting talents we had contributed to multiple loses. I think we win at least one we shouldn’t and lose at least one we shouldn’t. Here’s to hoping Hooker repeats what he did last year and everybody we play is hoping they can stay in the game.
