RB Situation?

We will be okay. The o-line is a much more important piece to fix if we want to have a good running game.

True, and ... A good passing threat will help the OL in run blocking. A good defense that can get off the field will give the O more chances and keep them on the field. Good ST can help win the field position game and give that O more success. A good ...

... You get the point. This thread is @ the RB situation tho.

If CFA improves as much this off season as he did last year, he could be a very good surprise for the Vols.

Agree. I thought CFA was a very pleasant surprise last year. Excellent burst, great top end speed, ran with great energy and better power than I expected.

Carlin Fils-Aime is a walking, talking TD. When he has the ball in his hands, he makes plays. He will be a factor going forward. I think he is the biggest back currently on the roster right?

EDIT: Thought he was bigger than 5’11”, 185. I stand corrected.

I am kind of feeling that we will get a couple of more big backs in February. I get the impression that CJP wants to run more power football and we would be the closest to fulfilling that goal with Scarborough type backs!

I've wondered if we might see him running behind a bigger back like Banks and also moving out in the slot.

Chandler and CFA both showed flashes in the UK game. But that was UK, so it will be interesting when they get a lot more time in bigger games. They definitely look good though. UT seems to have gotten a knack for getting some really tough runners lately.

You mean Gillespie has a knack for getting tough runners lately

We have coach G, and as long as we do I won't be worried about the RB situation. Besides Chandler is elite and CFA is very good.

Banks is 6'2" and 215 but he will probably end up about 225-230 and should be a power back by the time he goes through a good s&c program. With Banks, Chandler, Jordan and Fils-Aime, they should be in pretty good shape.

Also have RS freshman Coleman and freshman Grant coming in at RB.

I thought Chandler should have gotten more carries anyway. I think the rb spot will be better. We are good.

Chandler starting with Banks,CFA backing up. I don't think Jordan will be a factor. Hopefully we pull a 5 star next year.

Jordan played with a little swagger the few chances he got. He may end up being a pleasant surprise.

I would like to think that based on having Coach Pruett in charge that UT could very well find one more back this year.

The 4 star RB from Georgia who decommitted from UT and flipped to Clemson screwed the pooch in my opinion. Clemson is stacked at RB. Not sure who was recruiting him from the previous staff but we did not change RB coaches so he would not have been an unknown to our staff.

I do believe that UT with Coach Pruett will sign a national top 3 back next in 2019.

Follow the Al model... Get a lead and pound the ball with a big back in the 4th.. Also Get out of shogun on 4th and 1.. Another Jones disaster

I feel really good about the RB position going in to next the upcoming season. I think Chandler has the potential to be elite if he can get the blocking. CFA is way more productive than I thought he'd be given his size. And I'm very excited to see what Banks brings to the table.

Hard to believe Kelly ran for 4 ypc with that OL. Most of that must have been the first 3 games.

I wish he would have declared a few weeks earlier. Maybe that would have been enough to get Bell to pick us over Nebraska.
