RB Situation?

I have been out of the net as far a recruiting goes. Does UT have any quality backs projected for this incoming class?

Chandler and CFA both showed flashes in the UK game. But that was UK, so it will be interesting when they get a lot more time in bigger games. They definitely look good though. UT seems to have gotten a knack for getting some really tough runners lately.

The good thing is that Coach G. seems to get the most out of his backs, Great coach. Glad that he was retained.

We should be fantastic at the position. We’re very deep with a solid-very good group. I just hope our OL woes are gone with the JUCO haul we’re bringing in, they certainly can’t get any worse.

Banks is 6'2" and 215 but he will probably end up about 225-230 and should be a power back by the time he goes through a good s&c program. With Banks, Chandler, Jordan and Fils-Aime, they should be in pretty good shape.

I thought Chandler should have gotten more carries anyway. I think the rb spot will be better. We are good.

Chandler starting with Banks,CFA backing up. I don't think Jordan will be a factor. Hopefully we pull a 5 star next year.

We will be okay. The o-line is a much more important piece to fix if we want to have a good running game.

I think our O-line will be better since we are going to the pro style offense. With the coaches we are bringing in and Pruitt i think this team will be alot better.

Agree the O line is the biggest concern. Didnt we pick up a JUCO tight end? Having a couple Jason Wittens would be wonderful and WRs that could catch the ball. A QB who didn't count to ten before he got rid of the ball or was sacked. Finally, someone other than Butch or Larry calling plays. These would all contribute to better RB production.

Well, we signed one Jr. College tackle who needs to add strength and about 20 - 25 lbs. At least he has 3 years to play 3. We may or may not get 2 more in the Feb. class. Jr. College OL's are 50 - 50 at best. But you are right about one thing, hopefully they can't get any worse.

So true. The RB's will only be as good as the O line allows tHem to be. Hard to be a very good RB when you are getting hit in the backfield. I'm worried our O line is not going to be much better next season but hopefully will by 2019.

I don't know what mysterious juju was involved with all of Butch's O-lines. Being fair by leaving out those from years one and two, there's been enough talent for that bunch to at least push a few opponents around those last three seasons. I'm figuring these new coaches will correct that mystery and, even in just year one of their tenure, this group should be more of the mean machine their recruiting *s indicated. RBs fit in easier and earlier at their spots...less to learn, basically. I'm with all those who recognize the depth of talent the Vols have already. September can't come soon enough.

Add Bell from Cordova, a commit from Ga (Smaller - 175/180) and pursuing another back from Ohio. "Shouldn't" be a position to worry about.
