To those of you that were at the Georgia Dome yesterday, what do you think the percentage of Tennessee and LSU fans were at the game? It is kinda hard to tell through the TV.

In the Dome... 3:1 easy. Before the game, outside the Dome it looked like much more. Contrary to what I've always heard about LSU fans, they were really good fans. They traveled well, just not as good as Vol fans. I sat in the LSU section and I dont have one bad thing to say about them at all.

We had alot more. But who really cares. We lost again. We will lose in the bowl game wait and see. Just one more year in the shitter.

In the upper deck sections where each university got its allotment of tickets, every fourth was empty in the LSU section. The overwhelming majority of people in the neutral sections were Vols. Overall, I'd say 70%.

We had them outnumbered at least 2 to 1. But for some reason I thought LSU fans were louder. Maybe it was because I was close to their section.

Exactly right on all points. I was in the LSU section as well and the fans were incredible. I even have an invite for jumbalaya at a tailgate the next time UT is in Baton Rouge. I did evidently in the LSU president's special seating section, or at least that's what I was told, but they were all incredibly nice to me.

3-1 sounds about right. the Vols fans were quieter, and so was our band! What the heck was up with that?!?

I don't know, Mike Hamiliton said the fans are to blame...

I was there yesterday and we had them outnumbered 3:1. There was so many problems with the LSU fans that I won't begin to tell them all. They are the nastiest people I have ever seen or heard. Wish we could have beat them and won the SEC, but I'm still proud of our team, our players and our coaches!

Go Vols- SECE Champs 2007!!!

It was probably 70-30 UT fans, but they were still louder. Their band played more than ours did; their fans had a lot more energy than ours.

What is up with our band. In the Florida game in the swamp and in this game they just don't do anything to keep our fans excited and into the games like those two bands do? I sure would like to get word to our band director that they need to do a much better job of keeping the momentun going. I give the band an "F" for their help with this game!!!

75% Vol fans I would say. You are right, they were very nice before, during and after the game. Not what I expected. I was on the 40 behind our bench and had a couple of LSU season ticket holders from Baton Rouge next to me. We good naturely were jawing at each other back and forth, but at end of game shook hands and wished them good luck. Way it should be, except we lost.

LSU fans have represented themselves very poorly to me twice in the last two years. Yesterday was not one of those times.

I have wondered about the make up of the bands. I tried briefly to look, but I would be curious to know the ratio of brass to other type instruments in the bands. When Alabama/LSU/etc blares out their fanfare it's all horns doing it. (mostly)

Our fans typically think they are a tennis match. What's up with this relative silence?

someone that wasn't there, did we really seem that quiet? I had two different non-Tenn, non SEC actually, fans text me during the game to say it sounded like a home game for UT.

It was loud for me being in the LSU section but no way were they louder than us. I couldn't hear myself talking on every single 3rd down when the Tigers had the ball. It was ALMOST like a home game. Neyland would've had about 30,000 more people wearing Orange & White.

UT fans were louder at times. I am in the Pride of the Southland and I would totally agree that we don't play as much as we should, but this totally falls on the Drum Major. He is completely in charge of what and when we play and we(the players) have tried to talk him into playing more but he never listens. However on the fact that LSU is louder than us, that has to do with the amount of members and brass to woodwind ratio. The Pride has about 60% brass and 40% woodwind. LSU is bigger than us and their ratio is probably close to 70-30, so you can't call us out on not being louder than LSU's band.

But all year long I have been disappointed with fan interaction with the band. When we play Lets go UT, VOLS spellout, or even Rocky Top, it only seems that half the fans cheer along, and almost all the volume comes from the student section. IF you were at the game last night or at the Fla game, you can attest that it seems like ALL of their fans join in to cheer along. This is just sad and I think the band might play a little more if the fans would get more excited when we do play.

I just want to say how much I appreciate you and all the people in the Pride. My fall Saturday's in Knoxville would not be complete without watching you guys march into the stadium. That, the pre-game show, the Tennessee Waltz after the game, always chokes me up.

My son used to play baritone in the Munford HS band. A lot of people don't appreciate how much time, effort, and sweat goes into a first class marching band.

You guys are the best.

I think your comments about the lack of fan enthusiasm for the band are just another indicator of the declining interest in the product on the field. For the past 9 years, we've cheered only for it all to seemingly not matter in the end.

As for the past comments about the UT fans not being as loud as the LSU crowd, LSU had a lot of false starts that crowd noise likely contributed to. I think the Tennessee faithful where more than well represented.

I thought the Pride and the fans at the Kentucky game were hands down fantastic. We drove Kentucky CRAZY! On the tube yesterday the fans sounded pretty loud when we were on defense, so the layout of the stadium may have made it appear a little more quiet.

Not trying to get something started here, but I too was in band in HS and college. Our band is not very loud and doesn't play enough to keep the momentum going in the stadium. They were "outplayed" by both the Florida and LSoooooers band. If there is some way to get word of that to the director or drum major it should be done by someone in the know.

I looked like 75%/25% in favor of the Vols. I didn't see a significant number of LSU fans in a group until the ride home on MARTA afterwards.

We were easily 70-30. And I was in the neutral section on the 50 (5 seats away from Tee Martin), and we were louder on every third down on defense than LSU ever got, even on their pick 6. Our band was quieter though. But they kicked ass in the half time show.
